Has anyone filed this flat to the raceway? Does it add any structural integrity to the receiver itself? I’m considering getting rid of it on a rifle that I have.

Ejection port wall... interesting terminology...


I would think it adds some stiffness to the action... Actions are quite easy to bend when bedding them. Make sure your bedding is solid to start with so the bedding can add some rigidity to what the action will lose.
 
This would leave the 77 action very thin in this area but as to whether it would make much difference, I can't say. I have never noticed the right side rail interfering with ejection but, in specific cases, I suppose it could. I won't be filing mine down any time soon.
