Hi, I have reloaded some 9 mm ammo with lead bullets and I couldn't close the slide on a CZ pistol (bullet seating too long).
Took them apart with the inertia hammer and I have noticed that the powder is compressed so much that it doesn't fall freely.
Is it safe to shoot those after i resize them or should there is a gap between the powder and the bullet, forcing me to replace the lead bullets with shorter copper ones?

Thank you in advance your your answers?

What sort of powder and charge are you using?

Some powders are okay with compression and others aren't. Usually the loading manual makes note of compressed loads.

I'm sure someone here has experience with the same load if you share the particular details.

Compressed loads are good. The only time they aren't good is when you can't achieve your desired OAL.

I shoot 9 mm major with 8.6 grains of 3N38 and this is a compressed load. Just make sure you crimp a wee bit more but this is with jacketed bullets. But even then - OAL might vary since bullet creap out because of the compression.
With lead bullet, you might not be able to get enough friction - case to bullet - without deforming the bullet with heavy crimping.

If I was you, I would change powder - Titegroup work well in 9 mm. 3.6 to 4 grains make great - accurate load. There is no-need for compressed load in factory style 9 mm loading.

You don't even know what he's currently using but you want him to change powders?

Bullet weight and profile would be nice to know as well. I've have used Bullseye, Titegroup and Win 231/HP-38 and none of them are even touching the base of the bullet. All I use are 124gr plated bullets.

I've used 0.25 grams (3.8 grains) of vitavuhori N320

3.8gr of N320 under a 124gr/125gr lead bullet, right? (in future try to provide as much detail as possible, guessing sucks). If so just shorten the load until it plunks in your barrel(s). Fig. 13 shows how different bullet profiles affect OAL and Fig. 12 shows you why.

NOTHING BELOW IS MINE...

I find my lead bullets,45acp /9 mm has to be seated a bit deeper than my camper.

I just keep seating them a bit deeper, each time, until they pass the plunk test.

What bullets brand do you use? What is your charge for Titegroup powder?
I use Berry and Campro 124gr bullets. Both are accurate in my pistol so I purchase on price and/or availability. I loaded up a few test rounds with the last little bit of Titegroup I had on hand. I don't recall the amount of grains and I didn't record the data which was unusual for me. I've shot a lot using Bullseye and Win 231/HP-38. The Bullseye was all used up quite some time ago so I have settled on Win 231/HP-38 for 9mm, 45 ACP and 38 Special.

I love my CZ pistols but their chambers do not like rounds that are overly long or bullet diameters that are too large. My go-to target load with my CZ 75 Tactical Sport is the Lee 125 gr. RN cast powder coated bullet sized to .356" over 3.5 gr. of AA #2. It's very accurate but I have to be careful to keep my OAL to 1.10 or less or I have difficulties with rounds not chambering fully. I have also had good luck with Bullseye and 231/H38 and they are also fine grained so powder compression has never been an issue.

I am using the same bullet as well. After powder coating I have to seat at 1.06" to pass a plunk test consistently. It's a tad annoying loading all my bulk 9mm so short just to accommodate one pistol type. 99% of my collection doesn't suffer from the issue.
