3 gun match and thoughts on rifles

Nice footage! That match was a lot of fun. Unfortunately I haven't replaced my newly banned rifle yet so I was the guy with the bolt action 308. I got some weird looks, but I had such a good time I can't say I won't bring it again!
 
Run what you brung. who ever said is has to be with an AR style rifle. 3 gun could and should be any gun.

Oh look....ever one has the same gun the same optics the same gear........
 
It is now more than it ever has been. I saw way more guys running SKS's, M1 Garands, and other weird stuff. Normally, it's 95% AR15's.

At DSSMatch.com events we've seen most transition to Ruger PC or FX9s. We've also started to allow rimfires, so there are a TON of GSG-16s. Most runs are only a little slower owing to lesser ergonomics and less familiarity with the platform. That said, there are also some COMPLETE washouts due to hard stoppages; the alternate platforms are nowhere near as reliable.

What a shame. With one stupid "law", and entire sport was destroyed.
 
An entire sport wasn’t destroyed, it was changed. Let’s do everything in our power to change it back and in the mean time, do what we have to do to enjoy our sport.

As I told our crew, it isn’t Galt2gun and it isn’t even The-Group-Formerly-Known-As-Galt3gun; it’s GALT3GUN and will be that until they only allow us one gun each and even then we will share our guns and still be GALT3GUN! We are the living proof of sporting use of these rifles in Canada - just because some guy with fancy socks says we don’t exist doesn’t make it true.
 
The issue in Canada is the magazines. Any stanag magazine compatible rifle has an advantage in capacity and in many cases magazines for other rifles are expensive, which wouldn’t be so bad if they weren’t neutered

For something like an AR180, the times are basically the same. Maybe worse if you haven't squared away reliability issues and you get a catastrophic stoppage during a stage.

For a bullpup, I think the long range practical accuracy, shooting through V-tacs, and reloading from tight positions will make it slower, but I don't know by how much.

For SKS's and clearly 3rd choice firearms, the times are a lot worse.
 
“I miss my AR 15,” was a common statement this past season but I’m hopeful that people will adjust to the new conditions. A lot of people in our club were shooting with PCCs but this limits stage construction. Longer range targets make it tough so unless we see more people moving towards the remaining NR options or becoming creative with the stage construction and division descriptions, we are going to limp along again in 2021.

A manual division for bolt action/pump action, division for PCC/rim fire semi-auto, and a division for semi-auto CF rifle and semi-auto shotguns or something like this will allow to get some more attendance at league nights and matches. People are unsure about what they can or should use for competition. I think the biggest thing is that we keep people coming out. At this point I’m less concerned about my division ranking at the end of the day.

I have a sweet AR 15 setup that I hope I can use again but Adriel’s video persuaded me to put out some cash for the WS MCR. It’s an added expense for something I wouldn’t have bought if it wasn’t for the OIC but I’m going to keep shooting.
 
I bought a WC-MCR for 3gun matches and to duplicate (best i can) my work C8. With all the parts off my former 3gun AR-15 it's gonna be close for smoothness and zero FTF/FTE so far. Mags can get overseated vs none issue in my ARs so that could cause some extra time on the clock.
