This was started in parallel to his projects. I'm doing mods a different way than him so we don't overlap (read: compete) for stuff.

Also, this would alleviate the purchasing of a 'real/metal' one also. Probably a lot cheaper than a metal one (when you can find them that is). If this is 10-15$ and the rail delete 10(?), cheaper than any metal solution.

Agreed, two different ways of solving the same problem. I went the Metal airsoft route as it was simpler to attach that, sadly seems like the sights are drying up cause of our whole covid situation

Definitely like the route Tharkhold is going, it will allow for proper sight alignment rather than mine being purely aesthetic.

Also Tharkhold if you need any measurements for fitment just let me know! I can help out! Super sick design!!
 
I was inspired by B_wingpilot's build. Specifically I hated the top rail, so I filed and sanded it off and designed a 3d printed blanking plate. I'm very happy with the results, I can do the "HK slap" without my hand smashing into the edge of the stupid rail. My build: Dlask 9" barrel swap, 522 conversion kit, Airsoft foreend, Airsoft Stock, Airsoft metal rear sight.

Sorry Barrel.. They stamp the barrel with the gun serial number. So the person wondering if they could cut down the factory barrel.. The S/N on it would come back as the gun was equipped with a 16.5" barrel. Hard to explain that it was made that way.
 
Slowly but surely working on the latest iteration of the top filler...now with a rail! Lots of strength improvements and reinforcements made to keep everything solid.

Picatinny rail made all according to official specs

So far rail sits nice and stiff but still a lot of testing to be had before i do anything with it :d

1) is this a plate you’d print for others? I plan on sanding off that rail here soon.

2) did you find a handguard source that shipped reasonably quickly?

1) I would print some more for a small fee, PM me if you want one, with the disclaimer that it is not a drop in piece. It requires some dremel modifications to the receiver for fit.

2) NOPE, I waited around 4 months. It's from an Airsoft company in Hong Kong.
