Comfortable distance shooting?

So what are you guys shooting for muzzleloaders and what would be the make range you would comfortably shoot?

I would definately shoot 200 yards with my Rem 700 with 100grs of FFG 777 under the new Hornady SST low drag 250 gr bullets. Getting about 1950 at the muzzle for velocity.

It is shooting approx 1"-1.5" groups at 100. I have shot it at 200 and 240. At 200 it drops about 10-12 inches while at 240 it is about 18 inches. The groups are about 4-5 inches at 240.
 
Knight .50 with 240gr hollow points + 2-50gr pyrodex pellets. i have my rifle sighted in 3inches high @ 50yds.
longest shot has been 130yds (i paced it off) that was a wide open hay field shot with a good rest.
I'd like to think I wouldn't do it again, as it was a bit far.
I'm comfortable shooting out to 100yds.
 
I'm going to set up in an area that's 100yds at the most. If I see a deer, its 100 or less. Shooting NEF, 250SST, 85gr. FFFG.

However, I think the farthest I would shoot would be around 150yds anywhere. If the deers further out, I can get closer.

I think you need to define what sort of shooting you are enquiring about. Rondyvous competitions with roundball, hunting with traditional guns and roundball or hunting with caseless ammo and scope sights. Also offhand or benchrest
So far the two replies were from modern inline shooters and hunting scenario probably combined with scope sights and rested shots. A rondyvous competition would feature open sights only, patched roundball and ranges from 25 ot 75 yards with one or two out to 200. The long shots do not reflect a hunting situation.

North West Trade gun (replica) in .62cal, smoothbore, roundball/patch 70 gr 3f, some 4f in the pan, flintlock...I surprised myself by placing a heart shot on one of those deer shaped target at 50 Meters !! most of my shooting is at 25 and 50meters range...with smoothbore anyway.

JUST ON MY WAY OUT THE DOOR,.(my missis using the loo so i got 10 min. on line) going grouse hunting up the road. KENTUCKY .50 cal. flinter. .490 P.R.B. and 50 gr. FFFG as main charge and PAN as well.25 yards for head/neck shots. For black bear. i would shoot no more than 50-60 yards. but would up the charge to 75-80 gr. fffg. MAY SEEM A SHORT RANGE, BUT I,M TOO OLD TO SPEND THE REST OF THE DAY CROSSING RIVERS AND CLIMBING MOUNTAINS AFTER A WOUNDED CRITTER. NOT MUCH FLAT LAND WHERE WE HUNT ON THE BIG ISLAND . 100yds would be my "comfortable" max with my ML, open sight or 2x scope, reason is that I did not practice much more then at 100yds so a 150yds shot would be a guess as I don't know the ballistic of the bullet. Where I deer hunt, (in the bush beside the field) shots rarely exceed 50yds.

today to quiz on the bullet performance that I talked about earlier. I was advised that it would be good out to 200 with 100grs of powder. Beyond that would definately require higher powder charge.

I have done a fair bit of shooting out to 200 yards with it so I am comfortable with the bullets trajectory.
 
30 yards with my .62 fowler
50 yards with my .45 flinter
75 yards with my .54 percussion

assuming a clear broadside standing animal - opens sights with patched round ball

What do you shoot gun/bullet/charge and what's the drop at 150 & 200yds.

I shoot patched round balls out of my 50 cal Jeager (flint) out to 100 yds offhand comfortably, approx 14" round targets. I find my rifle with 55 grs of FFFg has a flat trajectory out 75 yds. If I want to shoot accurately beyond that I bump the load up to 75 grs.
My rifle has a flip up rear sight which is good for 200yds. I was playing around one day and put 3(benched) shots in 4 1/2" + 1 high one, then the fog rolled in and couldn't shoot anymore that day.
But to answer your question, our blackpowder club shoot gongs out to 180 yds.
