I was very close to buying an XCR-L shortly before the ban came into effect. What other high-end black rifles are still kicking around that one could theoretically purchase today? I'm aware of the ACR ($3,500, no longer in production) and the B&T APC ($4,000, very hard to come buy). What other high end black rifles are still kicking around that one could theoretically purchase today? I'm sure there's got to be a couple that i've never heard of due to their obscurity or lack of presence in the Canadian market.

I'm already aware of the more common offerings like the WK's, Tavors, MR1's M10x's, KelTec's etc.

Cheers,

If you have the time to wait, get yourself a built modern sporter from atrs

I should have mentioned i'm aware of the ATRS as well. Although they seem to be quite a sweet platform, I don't have enough patience to wait it out. I would like to make the purchase before Xmas this year.

Not sure if you would consider it a Gucci rifle, but there is one new example of a Range Warrior Accessories 180 rifle in stock at the Calgary Shooting Centre, in 300 Blackout. RWA produced a premium product, using high quality IBI barrels. Since RWA is only now producing parts, this could be a rare rifle indeed.

I know virtually nothin about this rifle, do those premium parts warrant a $1000 premium over the WK or MCR's that look almost identical to me.

My cgn friend. I would suggest looking at FAMAE rifles, the FN F2000 and the FN P90. All 3 of these can be found in a NR variant. F2000 and P90 will be hard to come by but the FAMAE's pass through EE farelh frequently. I have an APC223 that I picked up after selling my ACR. I would highly recommend the BT... Just buy a better stock for it as the factory one is garbage.

If you want real Gucci get yourself signed up with a valmet. Still NR and the only true "AK" system legal in Canada... Now that's Gucci.

I also push people to tactical bolt action platforms... You can get some pretty slick setups which I would argue are just as fun to shoot as any black rifle; albeit not as ###y looking if you're a fan of the milspec systems.

Happy hunting.

Ah yes, the Famae rifles, how could I forget?.

That FN 2000 looks straight out of Halo and the P90 bring back memories of Golden Eye.

I was hoping to stick to rifles that look more along the lines of the XCR/ACR/APC in 5.56/.308. My search continues.

There are a few of our receiver sets currently in the EE if having to have it instantly is worth the premium. Alternately contact us at the shop, we have had the odd cancellation, maybe your timing works?

You were paying both the NR tax and the small boutique shop premium, as they had a lot of customization of barrel length, gas system length, handguard length, and calibre available. Kind of like buying a custom chopper motorcycle. I haven't seen any bad reviews of them; whether that means the rifles were of higher quality then the WK and MCR, or people didn't want to admit to buying an expensive failure, I do not know. Hopefully the first scenario is then case!

Benelli MR 1? Takes AR mags, apparently has a reliable gas system, the collapsible stock model is modern rifleish in appearance. Can add a few options like front rail attachments and I saw one that had the barrel threaded for a FH/MB which looked OK. Also not terribly expensive ($1300-1600 range).
