Apparently that is reported by the German wholesaler, and the MR308 in fall 2008.

Cannot read german, but apparently they come with 2 10 round mags and the interesting part is they list anything from 10" to 20". Since these are made in Germany, they should be coming into Canada like the SL8

Wow, another piston AR made and sold by a company that despises the civilian market and is likely to be sold for about 40% more than it is worth.

I cant wait...

They make great stuff. I've owned several H&K's, and while the build quality is excellent, the support in Canada - and North America generally - is terrible. Try getting a control bolt for and SL8 or a firing pin bushing for a P7M13, or any other damn thing. The impression I get is "good luck, thanks for buying our expensive gun, too bad we don't stock parts". So I won't be buying any more H&K's.

I wonder if the Tavor will be the same way.....

Is this HK's doing, or their distributor monkey's work?

Why would they stock parts? Don't you know, HKs never break

Even if they did stock parts the distributor here would have difficulty finding them - once you had convinced them that you did in fact legally own the firearm in question.

The same can be said of half the guns sold in Canada though.

hopefully the 308 will be different enough that it isn't classified as an m16 variant.

Anyone know how the lower works on it? The gas system is different, that's for sure :)

HK Germany does not despise civilian sales. It is prevented from selling "weapons of war" to civilians by German law. That is why they needed Government approval before they could market these rifles for civilians.

HK USA (distributor in USA and separate company) is a shambles. Due to the import ban they cannot sell most things to civilians other than pistols. The SL8 and USC was the only 'black' long gun that HK has been able to sell to civilians in the USA since the 1986 bans in the USA - this is because it had to overcome the German Government restrictions AND US import restrictions. So HK USA do most of their sales to Government and LE as a result.

So it is much more fun to say that HK "despise civilian sales", but if you really understood what lay behind the fact that they don't sell much to civilians you may be less reluctant to say this... ;)
