NP29 and steel cases ammo

Take it to the range and test.

My Ruger PC9 eats steel case all day, tried to run it through the CZ75 and had few light primer strikes, could have been the gun or the ammo. Brass only for the CZ now.

Let us know. My NP22, which is obviously a completely different design, absolutely cannot extract steel cased ammo. They stick in the chamber. My CZ Shadow 2 has no problem with them, but my Ruger Blackhawk also suffers from sticking steel 9mm cases.

Rough chambers and hard primers will be your biggest enemies. If you have a "good" one you should be fine. One notable exception is the Winchester steel cased crap. That stuff is notorious for failures of all kinds in all sorts of guns and my experience with a case was pretty terrible too.

It's simply because it is really terrible ammunition. Lots of YouTubers have videos detailing the near constant failures the stuff produces.

My NP29 HATES the winchester forged stuff.

Mine too. Bang, bang, stoppage. Check, tap, rack. Bang, ban, bang, fail to extract, stovepipe. Rinse, repeat.

By contrast, Blazer, Rem, Fed, or my own reloads, maybe 1 stoppage every 200 rounds??

My CZ SP-01 on the other hand, 3000 rounds through that fine piece and not 1 malfunction. Doesn't matter what you feed it.

Cheers

Jim

I had a well used and smooth as hell NP 27 and 29, they just worked, mind you I tend not to shoot Winchester if I can help it, lots of reloads most of the time, no problems. I did polish the chamber a bit on the one, as it was a bit rough.

I have a bunch of Maxxtech steel cased 9mm. FTE every shot on friend's glock, every other shot on friend's shadow 1, every 2 mags in my remington 1911, and runs flawlessly in my NP29.

I think loose tolerance and a strong extractor helps the case for NP29.

I had 500 steel cased some years back. They shot fine other than the jackets were copper washed steel and occasionally made grinder like sparks out the end. I stopped using it at seeing that and someone else with less worrisome doubts bought it for cheap. But it fed and ejected just fine.

I did run into issues with Blazer aluminium not ejecting very well in two of my 9's. But that was fine and the third one ate it like a kid with a handful of candy.

The exact stuff I shot with today. 100 rounds and not an issue with any of them!
