The GSG 16 modification thread

Does anyone know if the raised portain on the 9" Dlask barrel is an adapter that can be screwed off or is it part of the barrel? It's stopping me from sliding the cocking tube housing off, trying to install my conversion kit.

Yes it is a threaded adapter. Converts the barrel M9x0.75 thread to 1/2-28mm.. It may be locktite on, so you may need heat.

Do you guys know if I can crank the barrel down onto my vice? Will it damage the barrel? I tried twisting it off but the barrel just spins. How do you recommend securing it down?

Well yes. You need to use leather, rubber, pieces of woods, something non marring, to protect the finish. If the barrel is spinning, then your headspace might change.

anyone used hkparts.net? I heard some people able to buy it from them and have them ship it to canada?

I used HKParts... Purchased, HK5 front grip, replacement pins, top rail, metal magazine couplers, spare 22 round mags and some other minor stuff.. Emailed them before submitting the order but someone named Ashley replied with the following quote:

"Thank you for your interest in our products that we offer at HKPARTS. We do not ship internationally but we do offer shipping to any US address where the parts are legal in that state. You will be responsible for making sure the export of any parts shipped to the US address is approved and done properly (if required)"

Someone suggested to me to try and get another person on the phone because apparently some people were able to get them to ship to Canada before, but when I tried calling for next 2 days I just couldn't get anyone on the phone. Ended up ordering to US address and just had someone I knew driving it over.

Managed to get it off finally. Clamped it down really hard on my vice and used a massive clamp to get the leverage needed after applying heat for 10 min. The threads were caked with loctite.

Managed to screw up the finish a bit when I was cranking it off, Dlask isn't willing to just sell the adapter so I'll probably sand it down smooth and repaint it myself. What brand are people using for the front handguard? The classic triangle one I got from hldtactical doesn't work with the conversion kit as the screw holes don't line up.

This thread was so fascinating, that I bought myself a GSG16 from Irunguns with the conversion kit. The handguard, stock, rear drum and pins was bought this month also so its possible to build a "MP5" look if you look around.
Total cost of the build with the firearm was ~700$

The receiver rail delete and mock suppressor was made with some aluminum railing and a broken sun shade stand lol

Thanks guys for all the informations and ideas.

Here's the final product :

I am having a problem removing the rearmost top rail. It looks like it is held in with 2 screws. However, when I try to unscrew them, they just turn and turn, never get looser, and never come out. The rail piece also stays rock solid and doesn’t loosen up either.
Am I missing something here?
Anyone encountered this? And any solution suggestions?
Thanks all!

Yeah I had the same issue with rear top rail until I watches the video.. the whole gun has to be taken apart to remove it.

Make sure you DO NOT LOSE the small spring!!

The good thing is now I know that gun in and out

Having trouble trying to attach a Hardline Tactical front hand guard with 522 conversion tube ? Its sloppy af and what does it screw into ? Is it posed to go over the mlock one ? Because it's not working on it's own? Also the HLT full rear stock , was told it uses a large hk pin but the official one I bought is too thick for even reciever hole ?

For the front handguard, you need to take the whole MLOK rail off. There are 2 screws to screw the hardline tactical handguard at the bottom of the handguard. I believe one screw go into a metal screw hole and the front screw goes into a plastic screw hole.
There is no play or anything for my hardline tactical handguard

For me, the small hk push pins work for the hardline tactical stock... if it doesn’t work, u can just use the factory screws... that should work.
