Shotgun Recommendations for 3Gun new, small shooter?

I have both a versamax and a beretta 1301 comp, as well as my slender figured bride who shoots an A400 xcel with the kickoff. My bride will tell me that the Versamax is way too heavy to comfortably wield all day, and that the 1301 with a short vented rib barrel is much better. We shoot clays a lot, so a longer barrel and kick-off is nice for her hence the A400 xcel, but it is very similar to the overall feel of the 1301.

20 ga pump will recoil too hard. Way harder than 12 ga. Way more expensive ammo too. I have a Stoeger M3K that’s very soft recoil and shoots everything flawlessly. Might be a good choice but I don’t know length of pull offhand.

M3K has a LOP of 14 3/8".
Agreed that 20ga isn't the best option.

OP, just how petite is she?
My wife likes the pistol grip stocks with under 13" LOP, 12" being her favorite, but she's only 5ft.
Dang, I might have to buy her a Benelli M4...so much for the Beretta, maybe buy both...

Knowing how close the recoil it is between the two, I decided to put that A400 KickOff stock on the 1301. WOW what a difference. I went to the range expecting to only shoot about ten rounds. I wound up finishing off the box and then shooting a box of rifled slugs the next day. I couldn't even tell that I had shot it later or the next day, unlike previously.

When I put the KickOff stock on, I opted to use a MicroCore butt pad as well. The whole setup added a whopping ¼" to the LoP and overall length of the 1301 (not including butt pad). As I've mentioned elsewhere, after my first outing with the 1301 Tactical, I was sure that I was going to add the small spacer to the stock because the LoP was just about that much shorter than I would like as a minimum. The KickOff stock and MicroCore almost equal that exactly.

Not my SG, I was showing OP another option for a stock on a 1301 Tac. Instead of what I use the Mesa Tactical Telescoping Hydraulic Recoil Pistol Grip kit.

Now we're talking! That looks perfect. I went back to the Beretta website and noticed that one of the big add ons for the 1301 Comp Pro is a recoil reducing stock with the "kick off plus" system. I can't seem to find a listed LOP, but if it's about 13 1/4" (or plus a little for the recoil pad) that would probably be acceptable for her. Especially in the 21" barrel. It would be quite the nice (and expensive) first shotgun

The only downside left that I see with this shotgun is that it's a 3" chamber despite using a 3.5" receiver (probably drops the legal capacity of 2 3/4" shells by one), but that's a pretty common "problem" in the Canadian market and I'd have the same capacity with any 20 gauge so.. now I'm just nit picking. Thanks a bunch!

She's also 5'. I was originally thinking something around 12.5-13" (seems typical for a compact model) in a traditional field style stock would be about right. A little shorter than your chart suggests, but I seem to prefer shorter than your chart suggests too.

Give Beretta USA a call and speak with the technical dept they are usually more than helpful.
