Iron Sights on Modern Production Rifles

Snapshots can order barrel band sights, but you have to calculate your barrel diameter and get the proper part number from Ruger... I had three orders screwed up on barrel bands due to Ruger needing serial numbers to order, and the parts I wanted were for a completely different rifle, which was noted along with the muzzle O.D. I was able to make them work, but you don't want to have to relieve the barrel or band.

Personally, I like the classic Ruger iron sights... but then my eyes are too pooched to use open sights anymore.

I had the chance to try one of the new C19 ranger rifles and the irons on it were superb; I’d love a set on the BB. Think they’re identical on the T3 Arctic. Don’t think you can get the sights separate from the rifle however, which is a shame. The rifle is slick but it’s too heavy for my liking. If they offered a T3 Lite with those sights I’d be all over it.

you can certainly get those parts if you really want them.

very nice sights. yes seems the memo when twe get older open sights are getting to be less useful but still beautiful ...

Yeah, getting old sucks! But I still pull the scopes and check the iron sights out to 100 yards... just in case of a scope failure on a hunting rifle... it has never happened to me yet, but it could, although it is rare for me not to have a backup rifle... or two... or three.
 
Probably a controversial opinion but I find shallow sights with a large beads very easy to shoot at targets at very close ranges. Maybe even better than a peep sight unless the aperture is very large.

I have owned many peep sighted rifles and like them a lot. Amazing how the sight focuses the eye and it’s effects at longer range.

the older CZ 527, BRNO K1 and Mauser m305 had very good sights; not sure what the style is called, some variation of a level top with a dimple and line in the centre for an aiming point.
 
I looked for them years ago, I appreciate the drum sight idea but for my hunting and shooting I prefer a dead hold for iron sight ranges. Not to mention every sale offer I had them going for more than a bare tikka at the time. Ended up with a skinner on my tikka T3, primary hunting rifle for years.
