I acquired an Anschutz 1522 22WMR last year, but have not really had a chance to try various ammo to see how it does.
This is a 54 action, sporter barrel, double set trigger, removable box magazine rifle. Barrel profile is fairly slim, and open sights
are on it..
I mounted a Leupold VX3i 6.5-20x40 with AO and a 1/8 moa dot reticule on it, and got it on target at 50M
So I tried the following ammunition: Remington 33 gr Accutip; Winchester 40 grain HP [2 lots] CCI V-max 32 grain; Hornady 50 grain;
S&B 45 grain solid.
3 - 5 shot groups to see how they performed.
The Accutip wins, hands down. under ½" at 50, and 1 moa at 100. Next was one lot of Winchester 40 gr HP with 5/8" at 50, and 1½"
at 100. The other lot of Winchester 40 gr HP delivered about ½" bigger groups at 100. The CCI V-max grouped much like the first lot of
Winchester ammo, but amazingly, 3" to the left of all the other ammos tested??? The Hornady 50 grain offering shot 1¾" at 100, and a full
4" low. The S&B was the worst of all....1¾" at 50, and over 4" at 100.
I'm pleased that I have a bit over a brick of the Accutip ammo, and 5 boxes of the best lot of the Winchester stuff. Also very pleased
with the Rifle. It is capable of delivering if you feed it quality ammunition. Dave.
