A S&W M33
This is on a I-frame, the small frame that precedes the J frame. It is about 1/10" too small to take a 38Specl. (That is why they made the slightly bigger J frame.)
It is a 4" barrel, with a 5 shot cylinder. All steel. It is like a slightly smaller M36.
The flat latch might date it.
It is chambered in 38 S&W.
It is in excellent condition. Bought it on EE. It is engraved (small print) B C N, so I assume it spent its life in a bank drawer.
I already load for a S&W Victory M&P and a Webley, so I have ammo for it. My ammo is loaded with 3.8 gr, 4.0gr and 4.2 gr under a 158 gr bullet, unsized at .360".
Given the dainty size and weight, I expect the 3.8 gr load to be the comfortable load. (Canister powder, similar to PowerPistol in speed.)
Edit: I tested it with the 3.7 gr load at 7 yrds. I am very happy!
