Covid project K98

Hey guys,

When lock down started in March I thought I would have a little fun with a K98 sporter and "restore" it back to something interesting lol...After collecting parts locally, here on the EE as well as Ebay my K98 Frankenstein is almost complete. Problem is I'm not sure its a K98 anymore..looks more VZ24 now ...Maybe I can fit a VZ handgaurd to this somehow.

Did you replace the barrel by chance ? If so, I only did that once on a Gew 98 sporter and it required some work by the gun smith to thread in to the receiver and line up, but it worked thankfully.

Looks good so far, but to make her look a little more natural, might I suggest keep an eye out for a Yugo Kar 98k stock ? These may still be around from the last import and will help yours to look like a Kar98k again .

No. I didn't replace the barrel. Just replaced the after market sights with proper military sights. I'd love to find a proper K98 stock for this guy.

Thanks, I had alot of parts. But I needed a new barrel. Which is harder to find a 762 nato one.

Great job on the restoration! I need to do something similar with a No3 Enfield I bought a couple years ago.
