I've just started learning to shoot. I have fired about 100 rounds so far. Most shot from the prone position or sitting at a range bench.

Shooting at 100 yards, I'm able to get a group of two once in a while. What's the best I should expect with cheap factory Ammo? So far I have only tried Federal PowerShok 130 grain (found on sale for $20/box).

I'm 99% sure it's just my lack of shooting skill, but I need some reassurance. Should I try some other ammo?

Thanks!

Try the Winchester super X 130 gr, or Hornady whitetail 130gr. Both inexpensive, good velocity and accurate ime.

20$ per box is firesale. Buy it all.

Smallest groups out of my nephews 270 Vanguard was with Federal Power Point 130gn. They were the smallest of both rifles.
Smallest, most consistent out of my Tikka was with Hornady American Whitetail 130gn. and I shot Hornady Superformance 130gn SST out to 1000 meters. I am not a fan of SST's. All shot well under 1 moa
A decent hunting bullet that gave pretty good accuracy and consistency in my rifle was also Federal Fusion 150gn
Group #1 - 3 shots .862 moa
Group #2 - 3 shots .880 moa
Group #3 - 5 shots .982 moa

Thanks for the feedback guys. Guess I need to spend some more time at the range.

Eventually I'll try some other ammo to see if that helps too.

I found my Tikka T3 270 really liked Rem 130gr CoreLokt. Not a great long range bullet due to low BC. Not the best bullet IMO but suitable for deer.

Go with 130gr anything for the 270. I used to be able to do .75 moa quite easily with my friends t3 using standard factory ammo. Just make sure you are holding your point of aim over a very small target (a cross in the lines). Avoid using the bulleyes as those usually tend to be quite big.
