Remington 783 ejector issue

I have seen frozen plunger style ejectors on different makes and models of rifles. Usually it is corrosion, but that is unlikely the case with your rifle. I suspect that the only way to get a genuine Remington bolt head would be to send the rifle to an authorized service depot. Because fit of the bolt head is directly related to headspace, manufacturers are hesitant to sell the part. Remington will not sell a replacement 700 bolt for that reason.
Most of the time I have been able to free up stuck ejectors. Sometimes I have had to admit defeat.
I checked PT&G to see if they offer aftermarket bolt heads, but no luck. They do sell M700 bolts and components.

Semi success, I let the head soak in about an inch of WD-40 all morning and gave the plunger one solid blow with a punch, I can now move it in and out a bout a 1/16" where as a before it had no movement at all. I will continue to soak and work the plunger until whatever is in that hole comes loose.
I have had a few rifles with the plunger ejector arrangement, and when the plunger is stuck, a few whacks on the plunger cross pin with an appropriate punch usually causes the plunger to pop back up.

I doubt that the spring is broken. The ejector is likely driven in until it is stopped by its stem bottoming out. Try soaking it overnight, and then using a punch and a light hammer, tap the ejector rapidly and repeatedly. The object is to vibrate it to the point that the spring will push it out. You can also try heating the bolt head until it is hot enough to fry spit, and then trying the tapping/vibrating. No hotter. Remove the extractor before using heat.
I use a punch just smaller in diameter than the ejector and a little 2 oz ball pein hammer. Light, rapid tapping blows.

Think I’m going the gravel route or trying to get a gun smith to drill it out and replace the ejector and spring assembly. Hesitant to go the bolt head route as that opens a new can of worms with having to check and reset headspace and I don’t have the tools for that
Just curious, is it still under warranty? , I know my way around a 700, but this looks more like a Savage or a Marlin? anyway it uses a barrel nut so setting the head space isn't' that complicated if you end up having to do it. Ask if Gravel if they will warranty it?
When I advised against trying to drill it out, I wasn't kidding. The drill will cut OK until the notched portion of the ejector is reached. The drill can't cut a half diameter. It will either break or run off. I learned this the hard way. Might be possible to "drill" it out using an end mill, which has a flat cutting face. If the ejector body is cut away right down to its tail, the spring and the remaining tail might be removable. Another possibility would be to use an EDM machine. Machine shops use them for burning out broken taps. If you call around, you might find a machine shop with an EDM.

I contacted Calgary shooting centre and they said they fixed a 783 with the same issue on the weekend. I mentioned in my email it might need to be drilled out and they didn’t seem concerned. Perhaps a drill press would work? Regardless they seem comfortable doing it and if it comes to needing a bolt head I’ll have them order it and check head space

Too high of pressure can bump the ejector in a savage and leave the spring permanently collapsed. A couple good wacks against some hardwood could get it to dislodge, likely full of crud and the extra help of the above normal pressure round stuck it.
