Brian, I had a Pietta and a Uberti factory originals and a Cimarron Uberti , all were purchased 2nd hand and all were of a similar age. My personal opinion based on that experience was the Uberti factory gun had a much better fit and finish then the Pietta factory gun and the Cimarron Uberti was better still then the Uberti factory gun. The Cimarron guns basically feel like they took the Uberti factory gun and did all of the things most new owners have to do with a factory gun to make them function better like polishing burrs and mechanical surfaces and just overall refinement - I also think they change out the grips as the Cimarrons feel better in my hands. That said you will find folks who will argue the opposite I am only speaking from my own personal experience.

Is there a price differences between a standard Uberti model and the Cimarron model?
Does Cimarron actually redo everything - internals like Taylor's does in Virginia to certain guns?
Or does Uberti do them to a higher standard in their factory for Cimarron?
Next up, does anyone know what the dimensional differences from an Antique to a current modern repro are?
I have an older late 1960's era Lyman-Uberti 1858 and I was told by Taylor's that Uberti changed their drawings later to upsize just a tad so they would not be an exact dimensional copy of a Rem 1858.
Yah, I go back that far,,,, aaaaargh!!
There are not many Lyman-Uberti 1858's around as they ended up as parts donor's.
Or is this just a myth from Taylor's!
I have always wondered the answers to my questions for years now.

On a side note, I bought an extra new Pietta cylinder for my Lyman-Uberti 1858 about 10 years ago, it dropped right in and functions fine.
My brood of repro and Antique
Uberti 1847 Walker .44
Lyman-Uberti 1858 (1960's) .44
Colt 1849 (1857) .31 Antique (purchased directly from a Civil War family estate in Virginia)
S&W No.1 2nd Issue 1860-68 .22 original but (Restricted-Prohibited because of calibre)

Apologies but no range report on the new revolver - I finished reloading a couple 100 rounds of black powder 45-70 cartridges last night so opted to take my 1884 Springfield Trapdoor (Mfg 1889) and 1885 Winchester Highwall (Uberti Replica) to the range instead. Will likely take the new revolver next weekend.
