Suggest me a red dot for a 10/22

I sympathize with ye on that. I've been running a Bushnell Holo Sight on my 870 trap gun (And others) since 2006, but last few years I found the 1 moa dot just
a pain to properly acquire. On my Leapers scopes with red/green select colors, the green is much more effective and with much less fuzzyness than red dots.

My new dot sight for shotgunning will be one of these, and it be already ordered from D&L Airgun. ;)

It handles shotgun recoil ok? Ever put it up against slugs/turkey loads? What’s it like shooting clays with it?

The Leapers dot sights, like many others of similar layout out there can take a pile of recoil over many rounds of heavy loads in shotguns, rifles & handguns. They be rated for high power springer airguns, so no worries on recoil and vibes. Me old Bushnell Holo Sight (Eotech) has seen 20,000+ 12 ga trap loads and all sorts of heavy slug & buckshot rounds. I put it on my Diana model 52 for a few thousand shots with no buggaboos. Same goes for the Leapers 6x32 AO scope I had on the Diana for rabbit & squirrel bonkin' out to 50 yds or so.

Either unit would be fine on a 10/22.;)

I tried a TRS-25 on my 10/22 but took it off as I saw a little red fuzzy star not a distinct dot. I don't know if that was the sight or my aging eyesight. I do remember looking through some other cheap brand and seeing a distinct dot though.

Thanks! So you don’t get any goofy looks from the other fellas when you step up to shoot trap with it eh? I’ve been reluctant to try it at the club myself...

Same fuzzyness for me but nice and clear if I wear my driving glasses.

You're welcome.
I get the raised eyebrows from the older shooters when shootin' at away clubs fer sure, along with the occasional Rambo references, but I just giggle to meself and get into busting clay and bringin' goodies back at the meat shoots.

I used this layout fer 4 yrs in PITA & meat shoots.

This is the configuration I've been running the past 7 yrs but I'm going back to the tactical layout as it be lighter, faster and soft shooting
now that I be a senior feelin' his age. Ugh.

The Bushnell TRS-25 is advertised as being suitable for shotguns or handguns. I wonder if it would be robust enough for a rifle? I would like to try one on a Marlin 336 in 30-30...

They work well on a 12 guage, you would have no problem on a 30-30.

Kinda sorta depends.

I killed one last fall trying a variety of slugs and turkey loads. Probably about 25 rounds, and the front glass liberated itself. I put a super thin bead of epoxy on the edges and gently pressed it back into place. Been fine ever since.

Likely just a one-off problem, as I haven’t heard of others having issues. But I tend to be lucky like that...

Got a Vortex Venom off the EE. A little speedier than I wanted but I think I’m really going to prefer the sight picture on the pistol reflex sight. A range trip will confirm.

I have a Holosun HS503GU that has been excellent. The thing performs like my Aimpoint H1 micro for a much better price. The only thing I'd suggest in the Holosun line is that you stick to the models where the battery is in side of the unit (rather than in the little tray secured with 2 tiny screws). This makes it easier to change.

Good luck.

I wouldn’t recommend an open style red dot. They are useless as soon as you get water on them. A drop of water on the laser projector turns your dot into a big blob.

The tube style is the only one suitable for outdoor usage.

Just gotta test yer peepers for clarity using these dot sights. Me eyes suck now on these type of sights as I have astigmatism which be common to a lot of older
fooks like me. My eyes flunked the test outlined below using a fresh Leapers green dot unit to help solve a color clarity issue that I've been having lately.

As noted in the test, me eyes see a non-concentric star pattern that be near worthless fer me use. Oh great, isn't this magical. Gettin' old sucks.

The dot be very nice and good in a camera shot though.
