I have a model 1910 or mk3 depending on which book, without wading through my messy office to find my "Ross Rifle Story" does anyone know if they were issued with 2 piece foresight protectors or should they be a tunnel style?
Just curious as mine has the two seperate parts and someone atBisley claimed it means it went through FTR in India.
He claimed the white painted rack number on the butt (butt number here) is another indicator)
I'm suspicious but open to discussion.

Ross frontsight protector

Tim, MKIII were fitted with the tin tunnel-type protector, with angled edge at crown (very front etc). The MKIIIB (British pattern) came with the P-14 style protector according to my info. The MKIIIB also had a different rearsight arrangement I believe to help you identify your model correctly.

The British Ross Rifle MkIIIB - ht tp://www.geocities.com/Yosemite/2069/r10.html

The only difference is the ros Rifle MkIIIB has a different rear sight and a P-14 type front sight.

I bought a front sight hood from Epps. Ask for Doug

The link for the British Ross is actually this:

The link for the Canadian Ross is given twice in the first post. Did you notice that the foresight protector is reversed on the Ross with the forged nosecap? Thanks for the tip, I will check with Epps.

My rearsight is definetly different to that. In fact the foresight looks a little different, I suspect that mine is as issued as it came straight from surplus and I needed about 6 hours of cleaning to make it fireable. I still havent cleaned the stock to read the cartouche's yet! I am lazy as I have had it for over 10 years!
