A quick question.

First of let me say i am an avid reloader, i started reloading for cost now i enjoy both cost and consistency benefits.
The only time i buy factory is if i did not have time to crank out any rounds.

I have been doing a little research and found that most 180gr factory ammo meets the 170pf or so they say. I was wondering what kind of consistency i can expect from factory rounds. Do only a couple per box meet the pf or are all the rounds pretty consistant.

I dont plan on buying factory since 40 is quite expensive but it would be nice to know i can grab a box or so on the way to a match if i dont have time to make any.

I know that Winchester 180 grain FMJ make major. I shot that factory stuff till I got my press. I don't remember what the actual PF was but I do remember it was good enough for IPSC Std and it was pretty consistent.

Factory rounds will vary depending on the type/length and make of your barrel. One sure way to know what works well for your own gun in terms of PF is having to chrono your ammo, be it factory or your own reloads. You will be surprise how them factory rounds vary in terms of actual velocity out your gun against what they claim to be in their packaging.

Since you mentioned you go to matches.... it is pro'ly a good time to start investing in a chrono. Then your reloading will be more meaningful..... ;)

Have you chrono your own reloads yet? :)
