I often swore to myself I wouldn’t get into rimfire.
Now I am turning around and want to get into CRPS.
Main reasons being, I have all this PRS gear now with nowhere to practice, this could give me practice using the gear positional to help prep for PRS matches.
And at the cottage I have 200-250M I could setup on, but with a few neighbours around, and from a few decades of experience, I know they don’t give an eff about rimfire but centerfire scares their livestock so it’s a no-go.

The centerfire I’m set to use for PRS has a manners stock and 14’’ ARCA rail.
Ideally I’d want a rimfire to mimic this in a certain way, doesn’t need to be perfect.

If you’d do it all again, and with a 2K budget (excluding rings, scope, bipod), what would you go with and why?
I have next to no experience with rimfire and wouldn’t know what to check for.

Currently hesitating between a CZ 457 w/Manners stock,
And Tikka T1X w/KRG stock.

Also open to using MDT chassis for easier ARCA rail install if it’s the case.

Get a Bighorn Rim-X to match your Origin :p

Oh my, this is a slippery path down an expensive hole haha!
Since my manners PRS1 doesn’t adjust for LOP and no gunsmith wants to touch it up with my LOP extension kit,
Would be tempting to get the Manners PRS-tcs for my origin and prs1 for a rem700 footprint rimfire...
Full stop let’s not go there lol

Alpheus, this is a valid point for sure, bergara are now on my radar thanks!
At some point I’ll get in touch with you for Stittsville events.

Edit: So far I’m taking a hard look at a CZ 457 with a Manners PRS1 stock.
I could add a 14’’ ARCA just like my full size trainer and have a real rimfire counterpart to my full sized one.
By selling the factory CZ LRP stock I believe I can make this happen for south of 2K.

Marty K I’m not sure what your timeline is looking like but I will be selling my cz457 LRP with IBI barrel very shortly. Just waiting for the new build to come together.. if you’re interested

Thanks for the offer,
Another used offer was accepted yesterday.

Down the road, ultimately, it will probably end up as a Bighorn rim-X in a manners.
We’ll see if I enjoy this before spending big bucks

Could you believe I ended up going CZ 457 afterall.
At first I had purchased a custom Savage from a friend on here forums.
It shot good and all, but didn’t have that feel and balance from my full sized rifle.

I ended up buying a CZ 457 and a Manners stock.
Still isn’t 100% like my real rifle, but close enough to call it a day and stop spending on it!
At first outing it shot a 10 round sub 1/2’’ group @ 50M, on my 4th mag.
First 3 mags we’re slightly larger but then everything got tighter since.

Also had fun on my 12’’ plate at 320M, with a whopping 17 mils of elevation!
A slightly off wind call would throw me off.
All in all very happy with the CZ, should of spent there first instead of trying to compromise.
