Just finshed my first 200 loaded rounds with my new Loadmaster.
I can see why some people have called it the Load-monster :eek:.

After 200 rounds, I've already had one part break (my fault), crushed 7 primers, missed priming 16 (again, my fault :rolleyes: ) nearly lost my mind about 5 times and was ready to set it on fire in the backyard twice :evil: .

Read the instructions, watched the vids, promptly f**ked up the first round :mad: so I went back and did the instruction/vid thing again. There's a bit of a learning curve to this thing. Unlike my turret, I'm not used to watching 8 things at once.

Oh well, I'll learn and get better. It is nice that with every pull, a loaded round comes out.

i just got my loadmaster a couple weeks back as well
i had a post on with all problems i have seen and some nice members with loadmaster experience helped me out a lot
so far i have not broken anything yet.
have fun and u will love it
 
Call Higgsons, get a ton of primer sliders. It's the weakest link besides the operator. I end up eating one every 500 rounds.

i dun think it breaks if it is set up right
did u take apart the priming system and clean out all the flash holes from molding parts?
cause when i clean them all up, they slide so smooth that there is no way it can jam up
 
I started out with Lee, and now I have a Dillon SDB. I had the turret, and found it very slow and painful to load on. Someone at my gun club was trying to sell his Pro 1000, and his Loadmaster, I was lucky to see the pain he went through, just trying to give me an idea of "how easy" they were to use. He is not the best sales person I have ever met! Glad he showed me "how good they work!" He also told me he was selling them to buy a Dillon! :eek:

The best lesson I learned was from here. People piping in with "Do not force it if you feel resistance". That one alone saved me countless headaches.

Wha'dya know, that's the part I broke. Eerie, huh? :p Yeah, I'm gonna call Higgsons and get a few spare parts in.

let's be fair people- primer sliders a buck a piece- there's even a spare included with the kit, so it's cheap insurance to have more than one-
once in a while i get a primer jammed twixt the priming pin and the top of the priming assembly, elongating the top hole- that's why i have a couple of tops, a bunch of primer sliders, some spare feed fingers for the auto bullet feed, a couple of indexer flippers, and a coiple of other parts- maybe about 50 bucks wirth of spares- but both higgy and lee mean at least 2 weeks wait , and i like to get my money's worth - it's going to cost you so much for shipping so you might as well get some spares up to the value-
btw, if and when the primer jammed problem happens, you might as well replace the top when you replace the slider, as you only get about another 200 rounds and then the thing goes again- but now you're out 2 sliders and a top -

Send the primer sliders back to lee, they come back as new. I'm still very happy with my purchase, it's an excellent rig, and the powder system is perfect. Next time i'm not going to do the calibre conversion. For the price, i'll just buy another loadmaster!
 
One trick I use to help with the primer crushing issue is to use a "universal decapper" in the first stage then put the sizing die without the decapping pin in the second. That tends to align the case over the priming station a little better. As most others have mentioned don't force anything (it is really hard when you get pissed) and buy a pile of sliders.

Well, I just trashed my spare slider :mad: and I had inconsistant results with the universal decapping die. I was using my spare 9mm sizing die without the decapping rod in station 2. Everything seemed to be running OK when she stopped again. Inspection showed a primer wedged between the rod and the top cover. Gonna have to order in about a dozen sliders and a couple of top covers. <big sigh>
Oh well, that's life.

Do yourself a favor and dump the Lee and get a Dillon. I do use Lee products, but never a Loadmaster or a Pro 1000. Too many parts to break. I love my SDB. I use a single stage for rifle, so don't need a 550.

Have u taken a look on the video on utube by shadowdog and darwinte?
they did help me setting up my primer system and i have not had a jam other than the crappy primer sticks to the decapping pin
 
You might want to check youtube for a couple of good vids on the LM. I busted a few sliders when I first got my press, but have now gone thousands of rounds without a hitch. Once everything is adjusted properly they work just fine, and at 1/4 the cost of Blue.

I also went through a few sliders during learning process. Keep the primer path clean and it works very well. A bit of oil, grease, loose powder or dirt in the primer path will cost you a slider.

Sometimes oil or grease from the shellplate gets into the primer path, the primers stick and you munch a slider.

Now I go through many thousands of rounds without a problem.

from experience, order at least one new top cover as well as the bunch of sliders- chances are the top hole has elongated because of the primer jam and you'll get another jammed primer in a couple of hundred rounds or so-then you'll have to replace the slider again, and so on- finally you'll wise up and replace the top cover- i did
most of the jist of this seems to be coming with the universal decapping die in station 1, which is something i've never tried and i'm thinking don't intend to- i've got my first station in decap/resize, and nothing in station 2 except for priming- but the 'WEDGIE" between the primer punch and the top cover seems to happen no matter what
