Haha, thanks for the laugh. Thats a new one, the Sks must have a pretty damn thin barrel wall lol.
You underestimate what a Bubba is capable of.

I don't want to drill and tap so it has to be a non gunsmithing mount. There are several to chose from but I just can't make up my mind, so far there has always been a downside to every one I have looked at. Which is the best ?
The Razor mount from Matador Arms in Calgary is excellent. I used it with a Vortex Venom red dot. I had to use a stock/comb riser to get a solid cheek weld though.
I have tried it already with an old Bushnell TRS 25, it's working fine.

Does the TRS-25 basically cowitness with the irons in that position? I’ve got one on a Matador Arms Razor scout mount and I had to put it on another 0.5” riser to get it in a position to still use stripper clips and be able to take off the gas tube. Putting it out front like that may not be a bad idea.
It co-witnesses perfectly.

I have trouble understanding how you can co-witness with a a Matador Arms Razor scout mount.
Looks like it works well. The thing that puts me off is that it's too easy, what's the catch ?

If you bush carry, bump it, or just regular use, how does one plan to set this mount so that it doesn't rotate ever so slightly on the barrel and throw off accuracy ?
It does look like the forward mount idea would work, but it appears to be a 'delicate' setup?
SIDE MOUNT ONLY
no mounts over the receiver cover-avoid that. totally unstable, no matter how well you screw it in with side screws etc
no scout mounts-scout mounts remove the rear open sights. whoever went through the real battle in wet weather understands that optics fogs sooner or late, no matter what antifogs you use. you should also understand that any optics when bumped into concrete, branches etc. will crack, shift the POI vs POA, if you've been through real #### you understand that. Scout mounts is just for "greenhouse plant" shooting, not for real life
Now what you should go for: go for no-removable choate style mount or removable AK style mount. That's it, no other options. END of discussion. These will be mounted into milled receiver, which is not stamped piece of metal-very stable
