Ruger 10/22 action screw aka take-down screw

Yup. I see them on the site. I’ll call Monday.

I was hoping it was a screw size I could quickly grab at the local hardware store. Apparently it’s not a common screw thread.

I got one from the hardware store, but there's the issue of it being threaded it's entire length, you kind of need the part near the bolt head smooth
 
I tried doing a google search for 12-24 hex and didn’t get very promising results. I had also taken a spin to the local hardwear store with no luck.

rndmrider was kind enough to offer a spare.

I’ll call the local Fastenal on Monday out of curiosity but otherwise will have to wait.

I know the one's offered are not threaded on the entire length....just curious what is the issue that arises if is threaded the entire length?

from what I recall, the bolt threads into the stock and then into the action, having both the action and the stock being separated but tightening at the same time made it really weird and prevented tightening the action to the stock.
