So, I ended up with a set of .270 dies, which meant I ended up with a .270 rifle, which means I now have to reload my once fired brass. The local regiment has the use of our DND range until the end of the month, so I'm stuck doing virtual shooting until then.

Let's hear what your pet loads for the .270 are! I'm partial to 130 grain bullets, but if you've loaded the heavies tell us about it. Ditto for monolithics.

130 Accubond, 60 grains of H4831, CCI250, WW Super cases.
130 Partition, 56 grains Reloder 17, R-P 9½, WW Super cases.
140 Accubond, 58 grains of Reloder 23, CCI 250, WW Super cases.
Start 2 grains down and work up, please. Dave.

I used either 56-57gr of IMR4831/Win or Fed brass /mag primer and 130gr Hornady for 40 years.Moose to coyotes and everything in between.

I like the IMR4831 personally for 130/150gr, gave better results.
H4350 is also a good powder for it if you have it on hand.

Which bullet do you want to use? for what kind of hunting? and what distance?

I'm stuck on PEI, and I won't be able to take time off to go deer hunting on the mainland this year, but whitetail and black bear. I prefer not to take shots past 250 yards. I like SGKs and have had good results with them in the past, but I'm not married to the brand. And the way things are going I'd better start taking a long, hard look at lead free bullets. I have a box of 130 gn GMX on hand.

60 grain H4831sc will give you 3000+ fps with SGK in a 24 in barrel and around 2940 fps with 22 in barrel and excellent accuracy. 48-49.5 grain of IMR 4064 will also give you excellent accuracy, less recoil and lower speed but still plenty energy for 250 yards. These two loads are pet loads for the 130 grain in 270 in addition to 54-55 grain IMR 4350 and 58-59 grain RL22. Always start 2 grains lower and go up by 0.5 grain.

55.7 grain of H4831SC
150 grain SST
CCI LR primer
Hornady brass

Tikka lite

mild load can be more consistent, longer brass life, less erosion on the throat of the barrel.

very slow, around 2750fps on magneto-speed. ~2830fps on kestrel ballistic. require more adjustments on elevation, slightly less wind drift.
Works well at 300 yards, max effective range on mid size game 500 yards if wind is consistent.

IMR 7828 is the best powder I've found for 130's in my .270, a Husqvarna. Periodically I try to beat it with another powder, but haven't matched it yet for accuracy, or velocity. Doesn't sound like it is a real popular choice, but it might be worth trying :)

Handloaders have discovered Alliant Re26 for the .270 Win. According to QuickLOAD, Re26 should give the highest velocity for all bullet weights in the .270--and particularly with the heavier bullets.

It's been an awfully long time since I've used Reloder powders- I'll see if I can scrounge some up. I also need to buy some 4064.

What velocity are you getting?

Been using 59 grains IMR4831 under 130 grain Sierra game kings for over 25 years...Flat shooting and deadly at 3100+ FPS out of a 22 inch Remington Mountain Rifle.

I used IMR 4350 and 130-150 grainers for decades. I shot whatever cup and core bullet it was on sale, and big game animals just kept on falling down dead whenever I shot them.

Inherited a ZKK 600 that came with a couple of boxes of its own hand loads, 150s over IMR 4831, that shoots great too.

Velocities usually run around 3150 ft./s for 130 grain bullets and around 3000 for 150s is the three 270s I’ve loaded for over the years.

I've been using the following load:

Nosler brass
150gr Partition
60.5gr RL26
BR2 primer

just over 2950 fps over an Oehler 35P (2968 average IIRC) out of a T3 Superlight.
