32 Win. Special brass from??

I have a mid-50's Winchester 94 in 32 Special. Loaded factory ammo is not easy to find and expensive when you do find it. New brass is virtually unobtainium.

I've read that the 32 Spl. case is derived from the 30-30 Win.

Has anyone tried running 30-30 brass through a 32 Special sizing die?

If so, what were your results like? Was the length and form of the resized brass acceptable?

That's all there is to it... it'll come out on the short side but I make cases for my .32-40 out of .30-30 and just load to factory OAL, never an issue. The issue would come if you seated the cannelure of the bullet to the case mouth thereby raising pressure...

Running a 30-30. Case into a 32 Winchester die is no problem. Neck is expanded and shoulder is changed slightly. I have a few 32 cases around somewhere. Doing some cleaning this weekend. I’ll see if I can find them if your interested.

I see you're in NS, I spotted a box of .32WS at Bass Pro last week in the $50 range if I remember right. Better than nothing eh?

I hunt whitetail with a nice old .32WS. I had no problem buying brass. I found some new stuff at gun shows, and bought more from a retailer. I bought a bunch of ammo at CT when they were clearing it out.

Using 30-30 brass is as simple as the posters above have related. I did a very few that way, but have no need to now.

Why?
The 32 wouldn't chamber in a 30-30 and a 30-30 cartridge in the 32 wouldn't be dangerous. Would just give you fire formed or split neck cases.

Interesting. I've never had a problem with sourcing ammo out here for my .32

I'd be leery if I also owned a 30-30.

I have an 8mm-06 that I use 30-06 brass in. I found enough nickle plated 30-06 to use exclusively in the 8mm-06. For the 30-30 in .32WS, I would mark them with a black felt pen, both the sides and the back end. A person could probably push the bullet back into the casing, if enough force was used. But what do I know.
