I am dead on Sako 85 but not sure which caliber to pick. I have 30-06 and 300 win mag and now I am thinking to get into coyotes so just need to know from experienced coyotes shooters which caliber is best for long range shots on yotes?

22-250,
223 or
243

Thanks

interested in keeping the pelts? If no, then stick with the 300 WM and blast away :D It'll be far better at LR than any of the other options

300 win mag is inferior to the 243 Winchester for long range shooting of 30 lb dogs

my pick would be for the 22-250, although if there is a chance at a wolf in the area you hunt, the 243 is the way to go

i would go .22-250 i think, but .223 would be a contender.
and .223 is way cheaper than .243

Oh, c'mon, the 300 WM will toss a pill into the .7 BC range at ~3000fps. Good for dodging the wind and laying a smackdown of utterly biblical proportions on a yote out to ludicrous ranges

a 243 will push a .4 BC @ 3200 fps, and dodge plenty of wind and kill a yote dead as #### out to 1/2 mile, while burning 40 grains of powder and kicking like a mouse - whats not to like?

If you're going to keep the pelts I would take a .17 Rem or .204 Ruger if your into it for predator control with some long distance shots I would take a .308 w/ a long range scope.
If you're not going to save the pelts it doesnt really matter what you use. If you've got the money to set up a Sako 85 obviously money is not a real concern so the sky is the limit on cartridges.

if you really don't care about pelts and want a cool show when the bullets hit fur the 50 bmg or say a 408 chey tac will knock those bugges down

i have a .223 still no chance to shoot any dogs with it.
