New to Semi Auto hunting guns and looking online it is suggested to use Medium powders in the 7400

For bullets I have on hand:
Hornady 150 SP Interbonds &
Hornady 180 SST's

Powders on hand
RL 15
RL 23
H 4831 SC
H Varget
H 4895
IMR 4895
IMR 8208 XBR

Looking for Min/Max loads for the 2 bullets listed with the available powders on hand if at all possible.

Thanks

Auto loaders and pump Remington guns used to lock up when top loads were used... Haven't used them for 30 yrs but when I did the middle load out of an old Speed book always functioned fine.

For my 1960 era 740 i use near top loads of 4350 &4064 with lee dies and 165gn projectile, no issues. Use mid velocities and 150,s for a garand

If your want to keep an old gas gun alive shoot 4895, maybe 4064 and starting loads. Even 4350 starts battering actions, and frankly the old Rems don't have longevity in their pedigree.

Older manuals list Garand safe loads, target shooters have given this thought a long time ago

The Winchester ball powders such as W760/H414 work well in the Remmy semi autos with 180 grain bullets. The pressure curve is just right for them and I have gotten very good results. The Hodgdon website gives a few good loads.

I have tried a lot of different powders in mine and so far the best results i have had was full length resize and imr 4895. I start at the low end of the powder range and work my way up watching for the usual signs or pressure. I have yet to get a load that will give me the accuracy i am looking for. I have some 4064 and 165 ttsx that i hope will fix that
good luck

They were also chambered in 270 Winchester which produced well over 50,000 CUP with factory ammo. Am curious if these rifles had the same problem, because I never saw one in that caliber? Lots of 308 Win and 30-06, but never a 270.

I have loaded150gn SST on top of 52gn IMR4985 with very good results in my 116Savage 22" barrel; 150gn Nossler Etip on top of 50.5gn Varget; 150gn Sierra GK on top of 50gn Rl15 with very good results in my T3 24" barrel

Been reloading 3006 in a couple auto loaders for 40 yrs. Done a little load development at the start.

Settled on the following

Browning BAR 47.5 of 4064 and Hornady 165 gr SP

M1 Garand 46.0 of 4064 and Hornady 165 gr SP

Both these loads are kind of mid range but served me well for hunting in the BAR and target shooting/plinking in the M1

Always check "internet" loads before using.
