My daughters gonna spend a couple days huntin with me. She's a good shot at the range but never hunted before so I figured it would be easier to show her pics of where to hit the deer than me trying to tell her.
Anybody got any vital zone pics I could use for reference??

thanks :)

If you go to Ontario Out Doors online "http://www.huntontario.com" , they should still have the article about the "kill zones" for moose, deer, bear, etc. If not, see if your buddies have a copy of the Ontario Outdoors Hunting issue from a couple months ago. There was a detailed article in there as well. Other than that, all I can suggest to you is to do google searches on the topic.

I quickly googled for images for you. Here is a few.

Well those pictures don't do much for me. 1/3 the way up the body, about 2" behind the crease of the shoulder. Don't let her shoot anything that isn't broadside or quartering away. It just makes it that much easier.

Good advice, it's typically what I do. I generally take them broadside/quarter for a sure, dependable shot, and usually go back from the shoulder crease the "width of the barrel". I put that in quotations, because that of course depends on how far from the animal you are.:50cal::)

Well, I did just that. (Show her pictures of where to hit the deer.)
I don't know why those pictures don't do much for you. I think they would be perfectly fine for his daughter.

Excellent pics! Rusty

Vital hits are easy on broadside shots, but other shots are more tricky.
I'm gonna study these myself for the impossible to get a perfect shot occasions.

Thanks, gonecountry.
I think these pictures will help a young hunter to visualize good shot placement on a deer. I also think that the second picture is important for understanding the consequences of wounding the animal.

thanks Rusty :)
Those will work perfectly!

I'd sure like to know how you did that google sh*t.
Man I googled it & came up with a list of stuff
Course with s-l-o-w dial-up it's very frustrating to take a quick look at each item

YVW, senior.
I switched to google Images and typed in "deer vital zone" or "vital shot" or something. I just copied those images to my computer and forwarded them.
If you 're looking for pictures on google, use the Images button. ;)
