So, to quote another internet article, "Gentlemen, start your bookcases!"
The book Hitler's Garand has this rifle's description on page 348 as a Karabiner 43. About 47000 examples were produced by Walther in 1945. This one is very late in the range, serial number 7668d cited as the highest number reported. This one's number 4897d would put it in the last 3000 examples produced, presuming a sequence of the letter suffix as a, b, c, d. Intact thunder chickens and crooked crosses, with the serialized parts and stock are encouraging. Ignoring the magazine, I'd think this rifle was either never issued and captured intact, or was issued and the PBI Volksgrenadier didn't have much of a chance to shoot or break it. It was therefore a next to new rifle when it was eventually issued to the VOPO. Those scopes are desirable all by themselves, but I don't know enough about them to comment.
If the original poster does a few serious Goofle searches for G43s and K43, he'll find there haven't been many on the market lately. What comes up is a seller's market. So, listen to what the rifle says about itself and price accordingly. In my opinion, this one is worth the money.
