I bought an older Remington 870 Wingmaster. Looking at making it more of a “tactical” shotgun. I.e: having the barrel shortened, Magpul stock, ceracote, etc.
Any good suggestions as to where to get this done?
Buying a shorter barrel for your 870 might end up costing less than getting one custom gunsmithed, and then you still have the original barrel too. The Remington 14" was available although corporate bankruptcy probably means an interruption there. See site sponsor Dlask for some very nice barrels they sometimes have available.
Changing the stock and foregrip to the Magpul ones takes a few basic tools, although the wrench to fit the foregrip nut is a bit of an odd special thing.
Besides TacOrd, there's also Kent Hill at Notch and Post Custom; he does very nice refinishing.
Yes, aside from ceracoat the rest is doable for most people.
Buy a shorter barrel, polish internals but hand/dremel, swap new stock set on. Not much you can’t do to one yourself with the appropriate hand and power tools, get some new parts from S&J (follower and mag spring, jumbo safety, non mim extractor.) and send the whole thing out for ceracoat. Will save you a bunch as well.
