I just came across a Savage 99c chambered in 7mm-08. It was made in mid 80's and there is really nothing special about the rifle other then the odd chambering. reading up a little on it, I understand it is a relatively rare rifle because of the caliber. I wonder how much this can be worth? It is not in a mint condition. It was a rifle working in the field for past over 3 decades so there are couple of rusty spots and the original varnish starts to crack around the butt. Having said that, it is fully functional without any repairs or major gauges/cracks.

I would appreciate any ideas on the value of the rifle.

Thanks

A good 99 in 7mm-08 should fetch close to a g-note.
As mentioned, photos, photos, and mawr photos.

A shooter grade I'd bet would be swallowed up at $750 in the EE tewt sweet.
This be the C version.....meaning with a detachable magazine?

Whoa, thank you for the quick response. I don't have much experience with forums and was not expected that much interest. I am a forum believer now. Below few pictures to make it easier. I just noticed that I didn't take any close ups of the scope but it is old Tasco 3x30 (or something like that) - definitely doesn't add value.

If the scope is made in Japan and functions properly it has some value to some people. The rings and bases have value. I would say 500$ for the rifle and scope would be a good deal. I would say 800$ would be the high end. Again, others are likely to have a better idea. I am not up on the intricacy's of collecting these :)

If you could get it into the states, I bet you'd easily get $1,000 yankee bucks, probably a bit more. The 99s have almost like a cult following down there.... $600-$900 kind of range. I've never seen a 99c in 7mm08 sell in canada before, but that price range is what I have seen other more rare "C" offerings go for in similar condition...

Thank you all for the input. It looks that I got a good deal.

I got the 99 and i'll keep it for a while. I haven't made my mind yet if I will be taking it hunting or if it will be used only for a joy shooting sessions at a range.

Be a shame not to hunt with it. The 99 is a iconic hunting rifle, and that is one of the best hunting cartridges around. - dan

Or words to those effects.

It is nice to see the rifle has a value, but lets be honest the one in the link is in mint condition in comparison to mine and the fact he asked for that price doesn't mean he will get it.

BTW i checked with the previous owner if they have the back iron sight and unfortunately they didn't. It would be cool to bring it back to the original open sights rifle

I am new to this. Could you explain what those percent values mean? is that a condition of the rifle?
