Your gun should be plenty thick enough to be reamed and threaded for chokes. Usually it's cut down guns that don't have enough meat left.
Never hear that before. Usually, it's old guns that can't be threaded because they had fixed chokes, and thin barrels to save weight. I guess some shotguns bell out at the muzzle to accommodate removable chokes, but most don't.
