WK180C Owners Thread

Anyone know what the thread on the charging handle is? Before I start experimenting?
I’m thinking it might be 10-32 but if someone knows offhand, that’d be great.

It's my opinion that out of the two factory original cocking handles the first was more reliable as it didn't break off. It did however shave off some of the inside of the receiver to no functional impact, however people didn't like it so they switched to the screw in type. People don't like that either as it breaks and now SpectreBallistics has produced a newer variant (time will tell if this is a worthy successor)

A few upgrades and another range report with a failure to extract :(

First, I installed the Giessele trigger, the bolt hold/release lever, a larger magpul mag release button, and a T-Rex Arms sling.

I notice one of the trigger pins is walking out. Doh! Better get on that!

I initially installed the bolt hold release lever with the button portion parallel to the bore axis and that made it hard to reach with my firing hand thumb. So I rotated it back about 45-degrees so now it's a bit more ergonomic. Still not great but better than before.

The Magpul mag release button is a great upgrade... easy to install and makes it much easier to hit the button without thinking.

The G2S trigger is a huge upgrade. Money well spent as far as I'm concerned. The pull is much lighter, more predictable, and crisp.

I'm a big fan of T-Rex Arms products and like their sling. I'm still trying to figure out the best sizing, but the most obvious challenge I've run into is the charging handle is poking me in the sternum when it's slung. I'm hoping the Spectre charging handle protrudes a bit less. I tried moving it to the right side, but man that just felt bizarre and awkward.

I blasted through another 80 rounds at the range and had one failure to extract. That's two failures in two range sessions now. I guess I'm going to need to look at upgrading the extractor spring next.

Otherwise it's fun to shoot, but I'm still thinking of replacing the barrel with a shorter version and registering it.

Snapped the screw in bolt handle today for the first time. Originally had the magnetic handle. Ended the day for the rifle.

Fun gun to shoot. Pissed me off.

I've had problems with the rifle. I'm know kodiak will replace it. Still though.

Blasted a few hundred rounds today and put some smiles on some faces.

"THATS NON RESTRICTED ???"

Was it extract or eject?

I found that with 62grain Barnaul my WK180C shoots it well but would suffer from failures to eject every so often

Sorry, I'm using those terms interchangeably but of course they are different... This one was where the spent casing was still in the chamber, which I gather is failure to extract. I need to recall exactly what happened the previous time.

EDIT my first failure was a failure to eject... this is what I noted last week... "I had one failure to eject. I’m not sure what happened but a new round was in the chamber and the nose end of spent casing was jammed between it and the bolt. Strange."

That sucks. So far it hasn't happened to me, but based on the frequency with which it's happening to others, it seems inevitable. I ordered the Spectre charging handle and will keep the existing one as a spare. I carry a bolt in my range bag that can also thread into the opposite side just in case the main one snaps. Sad.

Nice... will look into that (AR spring).

I will never have a chance to shoot it anywhere other than the range and my other two guns are both restricted (a handgun and a Vector) so it wouldn't be a problem to have it registered as well.

The WK uses a mil-spec buffer tube. It seems this uses an A2 buffer tube and from a quick google search that seems to be a different non-collabsible tube. So you probably need to replace the buffer tube if you want to use that buttstock. It's not hard to do that, as I just took my tube off to replace the end plate on my rifle, and it was easy.

We had a multigun shoot the other day, four people use my WK180C, it stormed through all the stages, rain and mud. There are now at least two more people who will be buying one.
