K98 post war barrels

I have a k98 with a pretty much new barrel on it in 8mm. Was there any other countries that rebarrelled these besides Yugoslavia and Czechoslovakia??

I think that it has a CZ barrel. The serial number on the barrel was stamped to match the German receiver. The German receiver markings were not scrubbed ..

Any thoughts?
 
Without photos it’s going to be nearly impossible to give you a definitive answer. That said, East Germany rebarrled a number of K98s in the post war period.
 
I think Bulgarians and Romanians possibly rebarreled K98s in their possession.They retained them for some time after war in some armed services usually in guard duty or cadet training.

Syria was a long time user of K98 in various trims so they likely also rebarreled theirs.Did they make them as well?

Those appear to be Belgian markings.

Belgium produced K98 rifles after the war in 8mm and 30-06. They also refurbed a lot of surplus firearms at minimal cost, so no scrubbing of stamps. France also refurbed a lot of K98s.
 
In 1972 I bought a reconditioned M98 with a new replacement 7x57 Mauser barrel. All parts were German M98, barrel proofs were West German, and the stock was stamped "West Germany". I sporterized the rifle and its been a nice hunting rifle for me. I bought this piece at Ribtor in Calgary.

If anyone is interested I found another marking and It appears that the barrel is Czech BRNO. From what I'm reading online a circle 'T' is a common marking.

Ahhh Ribtor...I loved that store!
 
South Africa used to be a good place to buy guns from, then Canada got real picky !
Kind of ended the run. Then you had to get stuff through Israel from them
 
I have a re-barrelled K98 originally made in 1944, re-barrelled in 1950 by Schultz and Larsen in Denmark with a target 6.5 x 55 barrel, peep sights and a 14 oz. trigger. Great fun to shoot at the range. Has the original wood.
