Just found out that ATI is making "Stock with Tactical Forend" for H&R/NEF single shot guns. Sahweet :D didn't know single shot and tactical can be used in the same sentance. but I kinda like it...

EDIT: who has the best prices on ATI stocks (inl. US stores)?

Single shots WERE the tactical rifles of the day. Rent Quigley Down Under some time :)

The rate of fire of a cartridge fed firearm was fantastically greater then the more common muzzle loaders of the day

There's plenty of local guys here who rabbit hunt with single shots. Some would keep a shell or 2 held in the lips (like a cigarette) and could reload that single shot almost as fast as you could pump your pump action. :)

I don't know about it being "tactical", but that ATI stock is just the thing for turning an H&R shotgun or rifle (it fits them all, except for the 10-gauges) into a great gun for a small-statured shooter. I have one on a .17HMR that allows my nine-year-old granddaughter to use it very comfortably, and then allows me to extend it in about a half-second to a perfect length for me to use. We can swap the same gun back and forth with no time or effort wasted changing the LOP.

I intend to get another, along with an H&R shottie, to teach her how to wing-shoot (as if I knew myself!).

I've also been thinking that a shorter LOP might be just the thing on a 12-gauge turkey single. Hmmmm...
