vortex razor hd lht 3-15x42 for a Sako S20

I will be putting my Swarovski Z-5 3.5-18x44 with BT and 4W Reticle.
I am using it on Sako 75 Finnlight in 300 Win Mag and love it.
In combination with rangefinder you good and accurate up to 625y.
I am and will be using 180 gr TTSX over H4350. I have Barnes 175 LRX
but with delay in Sako S20 delivery it will be next season project.
 
Of those listed, Vortex isn't in the same class as Leupold and Swarovski.
I find it interesting in discussions about Vortex that the word "warranty" is not far behind.
 
At that level of scope, they’re all going to be of relatively the same quality. Everyone will prefer something different. Glass will be as clear as your eyes will be. It’s the little quirks and slight hues that make them pleasing to one persons eye or another’s.
Don’t be swayed by people that “trash” one brand over another. Listen to the people who “Prefer” one over another. Unfortunately I haven’t compared the scopes mentioned, but will comment that the razor line of scopes is very high quality and like mentioned above, have a great warranty if you were to ever drop or inadvertently damage your scope.

And also in most cases the customer has to deal directly with the manufacturer (or the manufacturer's approved warranty center) for warranty claims. The dealer is done once they sell the product. Other than the odd customer who comes in b!tching they never hear about how many warranty claims were made. So it's understandable when the dealer tells you that they've never seen a warranty claim for a certain product. It's the many customers who had to deal with the problem themselves that have.

ALWAYS do your own research. NEVER listen to the guy behind the counter eyeing up the thickness of your wallet.

I don’t have an investment in any of the companies and am certainly not a ‘fan-boy’ of any. What I do have is real world experience from working on firearms.

Nothing like real world experience.

Vortex is more of a 'brand' than a manufacturer. They only make the AMG scope themselves. The hundreds of other products they offer are made for them by other companies. There is a long history of this in the scope industry.

The Vortex Razor LHT is made in Japan, by the same people who make Bushnell Elite scopes as well as Nightforce. These are all quality optics, though I'm not sure the same can be said for other vortex optics coming out of the Phillipines and China.

I'm a big fan of Light Optical Works, and own several scopes made by them. None of them are branded that way though.
 
I switched out a trusty Leupold VX 3 in 2.5-8×36mm 2 years ago, for a Vortex LH Razor 2.5-10, with the G4 reticle, so far absolutely no regrets on the switch, my welder eyes were having a tough time with the duplex on papper, so I opted for the dot in the G4 reticle that the vortex offered, furthermore the posts/hash marks line up absolutely identicle to my 260 rems trajectory with 125 gr partitions, so that was another "excuse" I gave myself, my eyes can focus on paper easier i find, and the dot comes up fast on deer, side by side they both are outstanding scopes in low light conditions, my leupold magnifier ring turned slightly easier, however that may be simply because it was well used by the time it had been replaced, also the Leup was slightly more compact,
Because of my eyes I give the nod to the vortex reticle, if Leupold had a similare g4 reticle i wouldn't have risked the switch out, but im glad I did now, hoping the vortex lasts as long as the Leup.
