I'm starting to get really pi$$ed off. Yesterday was opening day around here. I had to work and had a birthday to go to in the evening. So today was my opener. I was excited to get out, and went straight from work to one of my favorite spots. I get out, and sit in the wind and freeze my butt off watching the trails. I walk in. But somehow, these jackasses feel they have the right to drive the two tracks and other private roads that are clearly marked no motor vehicles. What is so damned hard with getting out of the truck and going for a walk? These jerks roll through, oblivious to what's really there, windows down, blasting music and looking for deer? Come on. They cant really call that hunting? I think somthing was lost in translation there. Am I really the only one who enjoys the hunt? Or is that the only way people can do it now? I'm so ticked right now. I was hoping traffic would be kept down, and at least people would be on foot. I have no problem sharing areas with people who are hunting. Heck, there was a couple folks farther down the road looking for birds with their young sons on foot. That's cool. But these damned truck hunters ruin the whole damned thing for everyone! All right. I'll get off my soapbox now. Thanks for letting me get it out.

Were they really " hunting " or Green Peacers scaring off the game ??

You should have taken the license number & reported them. Either way people like that should get to have a chat with the locals gendarmes.

If "clearly" marked no motor vehicles by a governing authority then I can understand your frustration.

I am a truck hunter. Mostly only when moose hunting driving from cut over to cut over. When deer hunting I mostly just sit in the woods and have a nap. ( 6 years taking a week off to deer hunt, no deer yet, lots of good naps)

Last year I hunted 3rd week in Mel Forest near Ottawa where vehicles are clearly allowed to be driven. There is always some not so bright hunter that makes a stand right next to the road and gives you the WTF look for driving by to get to you neck of the woods.

If you hunt crown land I say suck it up, move further into the woods if people traffic bothers you. The only other option is to buy your own land; which I am sure we all dream of one day. But until then /shrug.

You have every right ot be pissed off. So am I, I saw a couple of clowns shoot of geourgous 4 point mulie outta the truck. I did manage to get my few words in, being the big f'n politicaly incorrect big mouth that I am...."Hey dufus, nice window shot" why don't you's get a huntin' outfit made outta your seat cover material. Once again, 2stupid to get the point....Duhhhh. Keep your chin up man, we're not all like that. ;)

lol, you can come hunting with me any day gitrdun, I'll buy you a beer for every idiot you leave slack jawed :D

Not to worry though, after they had fired a few shots from inside their truck they'd on the verge of deafness so they just couldn't hear you.

Well for my defense, I do have a piece of paper that says I can hunt from my vehicle ... :p

Some guys need to think before they type eh? I've taken wheelchair hunters out before, and its a pretty cool experience to watch a guy who can't walk, shoot, gut and skin his own deer.

Back to topic.....posted no motor vehicles.....report them to the CO's. Or gate the road

T'was just too easy ... I'm one of those smartass #######s that just can't resist making the occasional off color joke ...

I'll say this. If it keeps up, it's going to be an expensive season. I feel better now. A $40 bill after a few drinks and a bite to eat always does that. I'll try again tommorow. If it happens again, I see $40 more going the way of the dodo.

Lotsa roadies up here too. But we've got bush. So if you walk and hang in the weeds a bit you see the deer they drive past. Two bucks for our group so far and we could be all tagged out if we were shooting does at this stage.

A set of harrows across the trail about 50 yards down the trail would work:D And theres a good chance the CO's would get the vehicle too!!!!

I understand what you're saying but on the other hand if I know there's an outfitter hunting in the area I'll drive in there 100 times out of a 100.

I'm not a hunter but I'd like to get into it someday but I just don't see the appeal of hunting from a vehicle.

Hunting interests me because it is a good excuse to get out in nature away from other people and life's distractions. The most rewarding things in life are generally those that require effort and hard work. Seems to me that it would be a pretty rewarding experience to hunt/stalk a big buck or bull, knock him down and pack him out. I can't see myself being a drive-thru hunter.

LOL!

Some of you also have to remember that the local people drive around just to see what is going on, just like they have done every month or two for the past 20 years.

Hell, I was out driving today and disturbed a fully camo'd "hunter" "hiding" down an abandoned lease road....(owned by the company I work for for the past 10 years) I am sure he thought I was an ass hole. I thought it was funny.

Just got back from a hunt near prince George. My buddy called me up and says "lets go".. I drive 400 miles to get to his place and the next morning we head out. We spend the next 7 days DRIVING the wifes truck over 150 miles aday in first gear. At one point I saw some fresh trax so I told him "you stay here and I,ll go for a strole".
I went out out down some swail and thoroughly enjoyed being out and about. A couple hrs later I came back to the truck and he was livid that i stayed out that long. I told him I,ll never hunt with him again if we can,t get out in the bush. THIS is driving ,not hunting. BIG DISAPPOINTMENT.
Prefer to take the atv and find spots to sit and listen and observe.
