I recently got a lightly used Remington 700 in 375RUM
I was not particularly looking for one but this one was cheep. $650 with brass and dies. Well how would a guy say no to a deal like that.
Settled on 250TTSX. Why? Well definitely wanted a tough bullet, and I don’t plan on going to Africa in the near future so the need for a 300gr is just not there.

Tried IMR7828 good groups but disappointed in the fps. Only 2770 with a max charge.
Found the factory trigger to be garbage so I tried a Triggertech
Wow! Very nice. Better than a Jewel or Timney? I would put it right on par.
Tried some IMR4831 and wow 3175fps and right around 1 inch groups
Put a Leupold VX2 3-9x40 cds on it.
I think the next upgrade will be a better stock. Factory rem plastic is a bit light and flexable.
You certainly know you pulled the trigger on this big gal. Makes my 358 norma fell like a 308. But she puts a grin on my face.

Yes
Only ever hunt big game to about 500yards at the absolute limit. And this big boomer would destroy my shoulder before i became proficient with it beyond that. Also i am not a big fan of big scopes in a saddle scabbord.
This one needs to go up and downbthe mountains on my horse while looking for sheep and elk.

I have a Rem 700 LSS in 375RUM it is one of my favorite rifle/cartridge combo's.

I had the barrel shortened to 21" installed NICG front banded sight with tall red plastic front post I have tried 1x, 2.5-8x and 4.5-14x scopes on it.

I now only run my Leupold VX3 4.5-14x40mm B&C reticle scope that I mount with Leupold QRW bases and rings.

I load 260gr Accubonds @ 3020fps it is easy to put 6 into 6" @ 500 yards with this set up.

When I want the scope off for I defense use remove the scope and install a rear XS Sights backup tall Weaver ghost ring sight loaded with 350gr TTSX @ 2450fps I get tight cloverleaf 50 yard groups.

the 375 Rum is an amazing cartridge,I use to have a Remington Laminate stainless. I shot a moose with it in the early 2000's with a 270 X bullet @ near 3100 fps, it was impressive. I really with the RUM's had not all but disappeared. Might have to stock up on 300RUM brass and build another 375RUM

Took my moose this year with a Winchester M70 that was rechambered in 375 RUM from h&h and I absolutely love the cartridge topped with 250gr ttsx or 260gr accubonds. I won't use anything else anymore.

Picked up a .338 Rum Remington AWR cause it was a decent price. Love it. Shoots good with factory. Now to load up some ha floss’s and hopefully ring out some accuracy with some pretty good velocities.

Give Hodgson HV-100 a try, I got better velocity and accuracy with it than with powders quicker or slower without running into dangerous pressures. I think you'll like it. My current rifle is a Brno 602 with a factory barrel shortened to 22". My first 602 had a fluted stainless 20" barrel, whereas this one produces about 50 fps more velocity and points a bit quicker due to the better balance.

Do you think a fluted barrel on a 375 could of attributed to that rifle blowing up?

Nope, I think the expanded portion of the barrel was where the shank threaded to the action, well behind the tapered and fluted portion of the barrel, although I haven't unthreaded the barrel to confirm this. There is no apparent expansion at the chamber where the barrel is full diameter, nor forward of that. The bolt's locking lugs don't look happy though.

Hope you weren’t injured! Sounds like a shocking experience.

So it was the POWDER's Fault  RJ

That seemed to be the consensus here when I originally posted my experience. A powder bridge occurs when the size and shape of the granules caused the powder to bridge in the neck of the case, resulting in a severe pressure spike, whereas normally the volume available to the gases produced increases as the bullet accelerates down the bore. While more often related to reduced loads of slow burning powder in large bottle neck cartridges, that seemed to be the most reasonable explanation for an over pressure event from a single one grain increment in the powder charge, in a cartridge case that holds more than 100 grs of powder. It went from easy extraction, no ejector mark, to Kaboom in one grain, velocity went from 2350 to 2550 with a 380 gr bullet.

Wow ! That's quite the answer ! Hmm ! I'm NOT convinced but it really doesn't matter ! jmo RJ
