Anyone hunted white tail or black bear with .416 Ruger?

I have a Ruger .416 but it's unlikely that I'll ever get to the Coast for brown bears.
I would like to use it for local deer and bears.
I have loaded 400g Interlocks to starting load strength and they are quite accurate at 100yds. I'm hoping they will preform on these animals in a similar way as 45/70 or .375 H&H.
Anyone have experience using this round on this size/type of game? I'm looking to not waste meat in the "eat up to the hole" train of thinking.

No reason why you can't.
I have hunted white tail with a 375 H&H, 338 Win and 300 Win.
They are all certainly more than needed.
 
416 rigby. Imagine a bit more horsepower than Ruger. Pushing 350 or 400 gr projectile, speed should not be extreame. Unbelievable penetration, but not gigantic hydrostatic shock and meat loss. Eat right up to the hole. I would say to use softpoint not stout or "solids", but that wouldn't matter. Even if your projectile isnt optimized, energy numbers are about 5-6X recommended minimums for deer.
 
I have shot two black bears with my Alaskan in 416 Ruger with Hornady 400gr DGX and the meat damage is minimal and I have shot similar weight black bears with 180gr 300wm with much more meat lost and all bears were shot under 100 yards.

I have shot my first whitetail with 150gr 300wm and even at 275 yards the exit wound was almost my fist size and ruin a lot of meat and have shot some with a 375H&H and very little meat damage all were bang flop no tracking.

You will be surprise on how little meat damage on large bore and my go to rifle nowadays is my Alaskan whether is bear or deer there is no replacement for displacement and the bonus is less meat lost.

I have only been hunting for a couple of years but have never shot anything. Yet!

I do have a lot of guns, in a lot of different cal./ctg., that will do the job.
( 243, 6.5x55, 6.5CM, 7mm, 300 H&H, 300 WM, 308, 30/06, 303, 7.62x 39 and 54, 8mm, 338, 375 H&H, 9.3x57,64 and 72R, 40S&W, 416, 45Colt, 45/70, 458WM and Savage 220 ) but have no first hand experience with bullet effect/performance on animals. I have a lot to choose from so this is why I'm asking this question here.

never mind that, after reading above post.....

you'l find a good cal for litle whiteys an black bear, im sure. closer yer eyes an put yer hand in the Gun Safe and pick two out... flip a coin:stirthepot2:
 
.416 RM with 400gr Hornady RN and 350gr X on a couple of hogs and my friend shot 2 black bear. It was very effective. I actually miss the .416, I really wish I hadn't sold it.
