What is going on with SKS norinco rifle?
All of them have been dry up?

Did you know any dealer to have brand new SKS ?
Cornel

Lever Arms doesn't have them listed on their website, but they will probably get more crates in soon. h ttp://www.leverarms.com

I assume you are in Quebec, so it might be a little too far to ship for your liking.

Unfortunately, you may have to wait for awhile until more arrive in Canada.

why would you contact wolverine for SKS?

according to the following website, they still have them:

1. milarms has them for $225
2. epps has 20 avail at $179
3. frontier just announced on monday for $199.95 .

there should be some pent-up demand , but selling out that fast? at $225?

Epps website is updated twice weekly. I can assure you that as of 9 pm last night (Friday November 2/07) there was only one left.

I'm not sure about Milarm but once an SKS climbs over $200 I want some warranty or to be able to inspect it before I buy. I will wait for Marstar or buy one from a local owner. Meanwhile I'll blast away my disappointment with my CZ858.

I phoned today.....they have about a half dozen.

The guy who handles them doesn't know if they are pinned or threaded barrels, or whether they are milled or stamped receivers.

They are going for $189.00.

i had a feel that $129 was too low. darn!!!

its most likely a milled receiver cos a stamp receiver is a collector item.

He did offer to look for me over the phone, but when I found out the price I told him not to bother. Besides, I don't know if he knows what to look for.

I'd want to check to see if all of the serial numbers match, what the factory codes are, milled vs. stamped triggerguard, pinned vs. threaded barrel, etc.

I bought some from Lever Arms a few years ago and luckily Blair brought me in the back (with the owner's permission) and handpicked some nice factory 26's for me that are; milled, threaded, and all matching but for the magazine housing. It seems when they were removed to be pinned there was not much effort expended to ensure they went back to their original firearm.

I hate those stupid blocks. They are an excellent way to destroy the collectibility of an otherwise pristine firearm.

I wanted to buy an entire crate of SKS’s back when Lever had dozens of crates, but I had to use the money for something else (I’m kicking myself now.)

I have to go to Vernon in the next few weeks, so I'll take a look at them then. Del Selin has a nice shop and good staff!:)

if he offered than forget what i said.

i was lucky to get a all matching except wood, threaded barrel, all milled, factory 26 early 60s from lever last year. the reason why it was still avail cos it had the fugliest wood ever, dark spots , dents all over , finger groove werent even but the metal was the niciest i ever seen on a chinese SKS so i scooped it.:D

Well, after what I've experienced and witnessed in certain guns stores, I can agree with you that some employees are either lazy or incredibly ignorant. Occasionally you run across a rare gem though. Del Selin's is a nice place in my opinion.

Sounds like you scored!

The finger grooves are meant to be offset a bit to compensate for the natural grip of the right hand. I'm a lefty, so it doesn't suit me as well.

I bought some Chinese military fiberglass stocks for mine and fitted them to each rifle (they even have slots for the spike bayonet.) The damn Chui wood was so weak and rotten it pretty much crumbled when I was removing it from the gas tube. Out of three rifles, I only saved the wood stock of one, the others were toast. The fiberglass looks way better.

The Chinese fiberglass stocks are no picnic to work with though. They require fitting mostly by filing down the area that fits into the stock ferrule on the barrel. On one of them I had to file at the back of the stock where the receiver slips in. The piece that replaces the wood gas tube cover also needs filing at both ends. I used a few needle files and a good respirator mask (the dust and fumes are nasty to breath.)

Happy shooting with your rifle!
