Bought New Gun!!!! (Tanfoglio Force 22lr)

Got a Tanfoglio Force 22lr... it's comming in two weeks, as soon as I get it I will post some pictures and give a range report. I can't wait... It is basically a copy of the CZ Kadet but it is single action (250 bucks cheaper too), feels great in the hand, for people with big or small hands (I liked how it felt and so did my girlfriend) it has a 1911 stlye grip. polymer handel, ajustable sights. comes with two mags. I think it was fairly priced at 530 bucks. (when compared to the CZ Kadet at 750)
The only thing that I didn't like is that the slide dosn't lock back when chamber is empty. A real great looking gun and from what I hear Tanfoglio has a great rep.

It's a great gun that provides me hours upon hours of shooting fun. I only have to bring a box of 50 to the range and it will last me at least a couple of hours. Not shooting it of course, but practicing clearing jams and fiddle-####ing around. 50 is all I really ever have time for and usually by then my patience has run low and the little vein in my forehead starts coming alive.

You will of course have to pitch in the extra $20 ($550) that the little bastard cost me, but don't worry, it's worth it!

Where are you getting it from and where did you get to handle one? There's not much info of feedback on them here. I've been scared away from the Sig and Wathers and I never much cared for the looks of the Rugers.

The Walther grip is very small.... my baby finger wasn't even touching the grip.

As far a the Mosquito... it was the gun that I was originally looking at, but after hearing nothing but bad reviews; I turned my attention to the CZ and the Tanfoglio... I was talking to the gunsmith Epps and he told me that the first generation of Mosquito were flawed... they had a 9mm spring it them... a 22lr round isn't powerful enough to chamber a new round... I would suggest buying a new spring package from Sig... That may help.

There are a whole bunch of Mosquitos at the ranges I go to. They're all exactly the same. Stop your #####ing and go and buy the ammo that every thread/post/website has been saying to use with it for at least two years. Stop trying to run cheap ammo through it. How many times has this topic come up in the last 6 months? 100? At least? Get over it!

I used remmington dry lube (a moly & teflon mixture) on the slide of my Mosquito from the day I got it and only ran CCI mini-mags for the first 300 rounds through it. After that, I was able to shoot just about anything without failure - even some remmington sub sonics. Maybe I got lucky. Maybe the secret is in the dry lube. I dunno, but the one I had was a fine gun.

Always great to read about new guns - I'm looking forward to the pics and range report on the Tanfoglio Force!

How many handguns do you own? I own 5 (including the ####squito) and of the other 4 (Ruger 345, Sig 229 Elite, CZ 75, XD) They will all eat ANY TYPE of ammo. Reloads, UMC, hollowpoints...ETC, ETC, not a problem, ever.

The problem I was eluding to and maybe I didn't quite clarify this well enough was that the Mosquito is SO PICKY about the ammo you give it (only CCI Mini-mags) that that, in itself is the problem.

I live in Calgary, and I frequently CAN'T FIND Mini-mag's, regardless of price. Now I know your going to say "Oh, well when you do find them, buy 5 cases".
Not a problem.

I've said that the mosquito is the best .22 you can buy, (IMO of the one's I've fired) IF you can find mini-mags.

With that being said, I'll quit trying to hi-jack this gentleman's post and end with this.

Not all guns will perform the same with every brand of ammo. Way too many variables involved. In my experience the SIG Mosquito will work fine with CCI Mini-mag, Velocitor, Stinger, and Standard Velocity. Mine works well with Federal Champion and Remington Cyclone for cheaper brands, and probably many others. Some of the other brands, especially some of the American Eagle branded stuff can become problematic with that gun, and with other rimfire guns. If the firing pin is striking a dud, it's striking a dud. There's not much you can do about that.

Take a look at my other posts to get an idea of the handguns I have. Comparing rimfire and centrefire reliability is pretty much pointless in my view. I have a number of centrefire handguns that I can't recall ever having a failure of any kind with. I don't think that can reasonably be said about a rimfire, even a Hammerli.
