270WSM vs Grouse (Warning a grouse was hurt very badly in the making of these photos)

Walked for hours this morning and found some moose that I didn't have a tag for, one really big mulie buck that only showed me his huge rack over top of the bushes as he ran and a grouse who was just too patient with me to live!

He was just giving me dirty looks and I was hungry. Took my time to take my backpack off, put in some ear plugs, put my gloves back on and then lined the cross hair up with the top of his head. Figure he was about 20 yards away. Nothing but net!

For those who really need to know the medicine was a 130gr Federal TSX No follow up shots were necessary.

This is second blood It brought down my WT buck a little while back. I really want to find a bear to administer medicine to though. Figure it might already be too late in the season for that so a mulie buck is next. I really love this rifle!

I prefer 180gr Ballistic silvertips.....

A few years ago I was charged by 3 grouse, and needed to make CNS hits to survive. 3 180gr Partitions form a 300WSM did the job...It was touch and go, but I made it out alive...Glad to see you made it too!

It's a fair enough question guys. The answer though is that we don't vote liberal here Besides as Gatehouse noted, grouse defense is a very serious matter!

Well well I was wrong. Yup I checked and sure enough nothing is mentioned about center fire guns. Well blaze away boys. Some jurisdictions do prohibit the practice though.

Cordur, did you recover the bullet. I would be curious to see what type of expansion that would have after hitting the skull armour of the grouse. If you had recovered it, did you weigh it as well to see what type of weight retention it had. Just wondering.
