I have a Western Arms 16 gauge double that I jsut had the firing pin on the left barrel go. How hard is it to find a place to put in a new one and what might this run me? I am in Ottawa, I have heard the guy at Gun Co is good, any other places around the Ottawa area?

Thanks

Finding the smithy will likely be the easy part. Finding a new firing pin will be the hard part. However, Western Arms was an Ithaca lower cost, brand name for department stores. They were discontinued in 1946 with none being made during W.W. II. Parts for higher end Ithaca doubles might fit though.
Assuming this is what you have(28" barrels, single or double triggers?), spend the money to have a firing pin made if you have to. They're worth about $1,000USD, Stateside.

This is a 16 gauge SXS, I know it was made in the late 30s ish. The gun is a long range version having the full and modified choke, hammerless with double triggers, points great and I use it on all my small game, I was going to take it into camp next week but my roomie felt like dry firing it and blew out the firing pin. How much are these worth now? Not that it matters, I will take it in to get fixed up before I start rabbit hunting in the winter.
