Difference between Rem 700 and Rem 700SPS?

How different is the finish on on a stainless SPS compared to a regular stainless 700? I've never own and never been a Remington fan but was thinking I might give them a try for a project.

Regular stainless is smoother IIRC... I was going to use a Rem 700 SPS stainless short action for the same project you have in mind...

the SPS stainless has a rougher finish

Feels like 180 grit sandpaper on the barrel. It's like they skipped a cosmetic finishing step to cut cost.
