Do these publishers of load data even actually test these loadings?

I know they do but seriously, I decided to load to mag length on a 300WM which happens to be what the load data also states.(it's not just one manufacturers info either)

Now when using these longer bullets there is no way in hell that most of these loads won't be or aren't compressed loads when using their test data.

There is no way they are getting consistent seating depth either with the loads they have listed as they increase in charge weight.

I was loading minimum , compressed load!

Guess it is going to be a non repeater which isn't a big deal but hate starting like this.

How the heck do they get consistent test data?

One word: Quickload

Its time to face that reloading manuals are very limited in the information they provide. Quickload would tell you approximately how full your case is before even buying your powder.

In the coming years reloading software will make reloading manuals a thing of the past.

These projectiles are so long I don’t believe the small gain would be of much benefit.

Tapping them On the bench many times also has limited results.

All I have to ask is if you were reloading EXACTLY the same as the listed data indicated. The EXACT same bullet make and type, the EXACT same brass, the EXACT same COAL, etc? No ifs, ands, or buts allowed. Once you get into compressed loads, things start to get complicated fast. Two of the most critical features are the bullet type/shape and the brass volume.

Are you vibrating your powder as you charge SLOWLY while using a long drop tube, to ensure it as compact as possible before seating to minimizing the compression required?

I struggled with this too and eventually decided it wasn't worth the fight with some close to but not quite the same ingredients/settings with my 300WM. I either changed out the powder so that I wouldn't have to deal with compression, or I seated slightly shallower, or I changed out the bullet to leave more room in the brass, or I ran with the first accuracy node I could find, or multiples of the foregoing.

I’m just going to seat longer , probably 0.200” longer and do a couple ladder tests.

No way I’m going to get suitable charges with the bullets that far into the case.

SC II 180gr and LRAB 190gr are the test projectiles.
