Shorter stock on a Marlin 1895

I'm not exactly tall. Not a midget either, but at 5'7", I feel the travel to cycle my Marlin 1895 -- while I can do it all right -- is not comfortable. I feel a shorter travel and/or a shorter stock might help me run the action much faster, while also helping me stay on target.

Am I the only one with this issue? What's the best way to fix this?

I have an 1895 Dark with the big loop. So I guess changing to a regular loop would help. But then what else? A youth stock?...
 
Nice thing about the dark is you don't have to worry about messing up a wood stock. Remove pad, cut it down, fill in swivel stud hole and relocate if needed, grind pad to fit and re-install, spray it with black paint and call her done.

Hmyeah, I considered that but I'm not a big fan of permanently changing a firearm. I'm upgrading the trigger and hanguard, but keeping the originals because reasons.

That being said, since the handguard will be an M Lok type, I wouldn't mind installing a completely different stock. I just don't remember seeing that many options out there, or any at all.
