Project to buy new pistols for Canadian Forces is once again underway

I would buy a new 320 and give it to the CF in exchange for a half decent HP.
This pistol replacement wouldnt cost them a dime if they surplused all the HP's and bought new 320's

If I were deciding I would go cheapest of the 3 glock m and p 9 sig 320 all 3 work as proven by other armies or large police forces. but they will end up paying more and wait 30 years to get it done lol

They already know where the stockpile is. A weapon tech I spoke to recently said there was enough to issue a new one to everyone in theaters right now... what’s an extra 10 years for pistols that should have been surplused 20 years ago lol

I was first told that in 2005 and every year since. And every time I talk to the guys who have authority to pull a new firearm from depot, the answer we get is 'what pistols?'

Our unit weapons tech has been told in no uncertain terms that if he BLR/BERs a pistol, the units allocation will be reduced by 1.

pisses me off that the libs can give ppe to china, piss away money on everything else, pay a terrorist 10.5 million, but when it comes time to procure good safe military equip. it is not a priority, justine you idiot

Even before justine, they procure junk. The LSVW, 4 mag tac vest ( but get issued 10 mags over seas ) the tactical jean jacket LBV, MK3 wet weather boots.

I have a barracks box filed with various issued gloves that didn't survive their first exercise in the field. I have a pair of black hawk gloves that lasted 15 months in Afghanistan and are still going. When it comes to personal kit and clothing, CAF should just stop issuing anything, and give people a clothing allowance.

In WW1, there was no industry. If you wanted a million pairs of boots you had to build the factory from scratch. Its 2020. We have a private sector for this now.

I agree... Or go with a modular design.. So you can add to it.

The USMC by and large carried the M9 but this year they started transition to the M18 based off the Sip P320.

The 1911s you are thinking of are probably the MEU(SOC) pistols that were chosen for MEUSOC and Force Recon (MARSOC went over to the Glock G19...I think)

please tell me what a blue gun is?

Hahahahaha BLUE Gun..... I am cleaning up the coffee blown out of my nose right now.... CameronSS you crack me up.... I just made a fzcking mess of my Logitech Keyboard on my IPad from this Blue Gun remark.

That’s gotta be the best suggestion for them WOGs (without guns)...

I’m going to be dead before the CAF ever replace the BHP. I’m so freaking old, I even carried one overseas in 1978! Ha ha ha ha

Stay strong and stay safe my CGN friends!!

Cheers, Barney

then we need to teach folks how to use the pistols

anyone with 1/2 a brain in 10 minutes can be educated on,this and maybe each month for 10 minutes before bed time they can review some of the important lessons in life and pistol care

Just don’t see cleaning or taking apart a pistol to be rocket science

Hi Moe,

Nothing personal.

When I stop seeing soldiers throwing their guns in the back of a truck like wood, stop throwing pistols into milk crates to get banged around driven to the range, and stop seeing people scour metal off firearms trying to make them carbon free an hour after shooting I'll change my views.

Problem stems from the NCO or those inspecting fire arms, prior to being turned in. If they were not soo anal about what is clean, privates wouldn't be taking tools to gun, trying to clean them, in fear of the gun being rejected. Most of the time, they want them to be cleaner than new. When you are given a basic cleaning kit, and 5 mins. It is hard to do detail clean.

And the thrown in milk crate stems from supply or those in charge of the vault. When I worked in the CQ/RQ.. I worked in the vault, that basically how pistols were transported. Was in milk crates and barrels in an ammo can, Same with the bolts.

For cleaning pistols, we got a simple rod with a jag hook, that had a flat tip.
