the chilliwack and chehalis river valleys are long time sasquatch haunts.
There was a crew that did slash piles and tree spacing that was run by an old timer that I used have some pretty good stories from over the years.
Spent a lot of time in my younger years hiking the backwoods of chilliwack to all the alpine lakes. Explored all around and behind chilliwack lake and up to hanging lake.
Seen the elusive chilliwack valley elk , seen moose where everyone says they dont exist LOL Bumped goats out of thier beds..... was followed by a radio collared grizzly bear...... seen all kinds of crazy things over 2+ decades of exploring , fishing and hunting that valley.
I have told my own story and it doesn;t matter who believes, who doesn't or who mocks the whole thing as a hoax. They exist in the chilliwack valley and despite being so close to major urban centers, that valley is seldom explored past the campgounds at the tail end of the lake. Logging has ceased and that valley, especially the sections on the north side of the lake where the canada trail heads into the mountains...... spend some time up there hiking and camping by tent. hehehe
I have seen what could only be a sasquatch, close enough to know it couldn't have been anything else but that. The driver of the car i was in was an avid outdoorsman up until that day. Guy won't go hiking, camping, fishing..... gave it all up after that day.

I'm going to resurrect this thread because a personal experience related to this topic is on my mind currently, and actually bothering me a lot. For context I live 200km of logging roads from the nearest town and completely off grid in a very small hamlet. Lots are about 5 acres or so.

This spring, 2020, I woke up at 2-3am. I can't tell you why I did, but after a minute laying awake there was a piercing two note whistle through my open bedroom window.
Similar to a two note chickadee call(fee bee). One high pitched note followed by a low pitch note. It came from one side of my yard. Another call answered from the opposite side. But this second one choked like someone tried to whistle but didn't quite catch it right and stumbled. It immediately came again but clearly. They sounded human. And too loud for a bird.

So I start to get up and grab my problem bear shotgun with a mounted light thinking I have thieves (big problem here). And I got a chill. A chill that went through every bone in my body as every instinct I have screamed at me not to go outside. So I lay back down and did nothing.

This experience stands out to me for the simple fact that I do not feel fear. I've been a career bushman and never felt uncomfortable ever in the wilderness. Part of the reason I live where I do. That experience will always stick with me because I've never heard anything like it before, and I've never felt anything like that before. But I've read reports of people feeling that same thing when it comes to sasquatch sightings or strange occurences on the bush. I've come to rely heavily on instinct as I believe they're more acute in some ways than a lot of conscience processes. But yes, I felt true fear, in my own home and armed. And that isn't something I've felt since I was a child. I feel nothing but attention/caution or irritation dealing with bears depending on the situation. I'm comfortable sweeping my yard at in the dark looking for bears. So that should help with giving context to my normal disposition in these circumstances.

Trail cams in my yard got nothing. But I believe they were still in the trees.

I am curious now, how can thieves be a problem living 200km from the nearest town?

Some locals. Some come from town. Some come with seasonal crews. Mine sites 100km north from here have been getting hit and stripped. Gens, welders, pumps. Places around here too. 50kw genset went missing off a neighbors place a month ago. My shop has been broken into. That's just scratching the surface. It's a problem.

So update on what I posted. Talking to a friend of mine in a logging camp just north of here about this. He tells me on Monday(Oct 26) he heard the same whistle. And it made his skin crawl. Middle of the night while he was checking propane tanks and lines on a furnace that went out. 4" of snow on the ground and been bloody cold outside. So definitely no birds left to make that call, and especially not at night. Take it for what it is. I think the logging is stirring up things.

If there was snow on the ground why didn't he go out and look for tracks?

because he was afraid...... seriously just got back and had best time of my life still did not venture the otherside for moose but maybe next week for deer. a side not one of the new guys i met was where a hunting for sasquatch t shirt and i burst out laughing. guess im gonna steer him to the clif side for deer season...

Not the longest daylight hours right now and he's busy working. Frankly I should go up and go searching with him if he can find the time during the day. That said, it's hard to say how far out it was and it's not exactly easy terrain to cover a lot of ground in. It also melted hard yesterday so not going to get anything definitive even if we do find something.

That said, in his words....I'm not f-ing going out there in the dark. Personally, I'd be hesitant to fly solo on this even in the daylight. Until you've experienced it...it's not something easy to communicate. Staring down a grizzly has nothing on that feeling.

Over the last 20 or so years in the Yukon I can think of three different first hand Bigfoot accounts that have been recounted to me. All three came from experienced bush people, all three included elements that the witnesses had great difficulty squaring with their previous observations of nature, and all three included strong sensations of inexplicable, instinctual fear. I don't know what they saw, but I know whatever it was shook all three of them, yet they were all willing to risk the obvious ridicule of their peers to share their stories, they were so compelling.

Shame that these stories can't be shared to a wider audience.

I wanna piece of dogman. For some reason, werewolves scared the hell out of me when I was a kid. If there is a chance something that resembles them may exist, I've got business with it.

Here's the thing. I don't think anyone with an encounter of some variety believed until they had an encounter. Sasquatch never crossed my mind until I couldn't explain it. That said, last year a friend saw something bipedal and shaggy running into the trees across a cut block. Which I figured was a native of an uncontacted tribe wearing furs as there's some pretty wild tribes out here further north.
I'm starting to second guess that assessment thinking back. Especially with the few PMs I've gotten on this.
