God I wouldn't want to touch off that model 77, 14.5" barrel in 30-06, without ear pro.

I have held a few of those in my hands at CFB Borden a few years ago, they where very nice.

To that end, I'm still surprised at the new Ranger rifle choice, nice, but those dam Ruger's where slick too.

My pick would have been a Ruger Scout rifle, but that's a subject that has been beaten to death and then beaten once again, for the hell of it!

Even with earpro, it is loud. The sight radius is terribly short and sights themselves not great. It's not the easiest thing to shoot but it serves its purpose of protection from predators and being compact (the stock also folds in addition to the short barrel).

I think C7A1 is the best one. Also, MP 40 which was used in World War 2 by nazi was really awesome but took so many lives...

Umm.... What does that have to do. With a list of, some of the Canadian Forces firearm. That are currently used in service?

These are general issue small arms. The C8 CQB, and P226 are only used by CP and CANSOFCOM. The P90 is used only by CANSOFCOM.

Is my French going to hell?

Shotgun translates to Fusil.
Rifle translates to Carabine.

Yet I see many rifles incorrectly translated to fusil.

Did "fusil" (shotgun) become a generic word for anything dispatching lead?

I thought Fusil means musket or generally anything that goes bang.
Full auto P90s with free ammo rock.

The equivalent of fusil in English is shotgun. However, it is very frequent to refer to just about any firearm as un fusil -- not unlike "gun" in English encompasses anything that goes boom.

The "F" in FAMAS is Fusil. I had an 18 year old troop who spent his first 16 in Paris who was an amazing jerk when it came to working with the 22nd. He was also an awesome liaison with the FFL, ranks didn't matter when you had a personal translator.

Nope. Unless you make one yourself by editing the French out of it, CAF is a billingual institution so we get billingual publications.

FUSIL is used the same way GUN is used in english. FUSIL also designate a shotgun while CARABINE will usually means what is referred to in english as RIFLE.

Which brings us to the second part, the evil word WEAPON. Francos will refer to their firearms in french as ARME (short for ARME À FEU/FIREARM) which translates to WEAPON. I get some dirty look when I call any firearm a weapon because of that frenglish situation

I could be wrong but... I have seen a version of this poster has a bunch more guns such as the C8CQB, C7CT, P226 and the C16 AGL. I’m pretty sure they added M72, 84mm, c13 grenade and others. I’ll see if I can find it in the CQ tomorrow and dust it off for a picture
